The OCD people like myself who rather keep the original screen scratch free so that when it comes time to decommission a phone due to obsolescence, it has a pristine screen!!

Ok, that aside, I have used my phones without protectors for two weeks (delivery time for protector), and put a few scratches on it. Scratches are not a big deal physically or functionally, but those scratches are a fair effort to fix because its a screen replacement. Therefore, these scratches are a big deal….
I have used a glass protector on my current phone, and after a year of use, I have put in a few good scratches, but nothing that bothers me as much as the few on the real screen. Secondly, the first few weeks of use of the exposed screen was with a high level of care, as we give to new products, but the last year of use with the protector was not exactly gentle, so there is a practical difference in the hardness of the actual glass.
This new glass protector is definitely hard enough to not be too worried about putting keys on the screen. That peace of mind allows me to enjoy the device, and not let my OCD stop me from doing so.
Plastic protectors do not last anywhere NEAR as long as a glass one. Initially their all good, but after a short while of scratching, buffing, abrasion, the glass one still looks like new, the plastic one really drops in optical quality, and thus you get a gently degrading ability to enjoy your expensive screen.
