He said.. MAKE money.. not Maintain money..

If you're already very rich or OLD..  sure index funds..

If you're some dude, asking for money advice on a keyboard forum.. odds are, he's broke..

Which is why an index fund would perform for him exactly as well as playing forex @ 100:1

These funds do not significantly out perform the market, hell, it's an index fund (energy, exxon, and large caps, apple), useful to cover inflation at best..

Selling little bits of plastic to hobbyists with no  sense of the value of little bits of plastic seems like a decent way to make an extra few hundred every month.

You have the figures to back that up?
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

Seriously.  Find something you are good at.  Do it until you are spectacular at it.  Then figure out how to make money from being spectacular at it.

I still haven't found a way to make money by posting on a forum.

MW was putting faux sponsored links in his posts for a little while.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

No.  It was Pacifist's attempt at outlining the costs of cap making.  It...didn't go over well with the actual cap makers.

OT: What was their greatest issues with it? I came into that thread early when it was still an interesting discussion.
I caught some flak last time I linked to that thread. All I know is Pacifist got into a fight with the other cap makers after he copied a design I believe?

(I am not a cap maker)

I think the biggest beef was that he over simplified things.  I have no idea the accuracy of his numbers, but let's assume they were accurate.  He only accounted for the raw materials, not the time, duds, practice (R&D), and such.  Not to mention any other hidden costs that they may have that I'm just unaware of.  I'm sure a cap maker can step in and clarify, or maybe there were some comments at the end of that thread that gave a better answer, I don't remember.

He just suggested making 'copycaps' was the way to go.

And I believe people had issues with his price breakdown because it was over simplified.

Can confirm Pacifist did not account for the cost in man hours, material going bad over time if there was a mechanical malfunction, mechanical malfunction costs, cost for electricity, packing materials, shipping, domain/hosting, camera, protective material, and taxes.

I need more spending money, any ideas on what I can do on the side to make a little extra every now and then?
I could mock around on this question, but I want to answer seriously. Sell some o’ your old stuff on eBay. Most people forget what they’ve dumped in their attic or cellars over the decades. Even if you’ll merely get a few dollars for some cheap ****e, many a mickle makes a muckle.

I recently took my change jar that's been accumulating weight for the past few years to the coinstar. Got nearly a hundred bucks out of it. If you don't wanna pay the 10% fee, then you could opt to get gift cards instead of cash or--with a little more effort--roll the coins yourself and cash them in at the bank.
