Where do y'all get your electronic music?
« on: Mon, 22 September 2014, 03:19:23 »
I've always had trouble immersing myself into electronic music because there's so much collaboration involved, what with sets and mixes and remixes and whatnot. Where do you all get your music? I'd prefer to download it so I can easily queue a playlist up on my iTunes.

If it helps, I'm mostly into deep house. I also really like moombahton, electrohouse and big room. I also really don't like a lot of other electronic genres.

For clarification, I am using "electronic" pretty vaguely, but I do mainly mean the dance-y kind. I don't really have a problem finding music from bands in the genre. I guess I just don't really understand how to do the dancing

I get mine from rutracker, beathaus, waffles, and jpopsuki.
I'm into more ambient/psychedelic, but I listen to a lot of dance and trance as well.

ooh I've for sure been neglecting soundcloud. I've been using it for hip hop, but for some reason it never clicked in my mind to try looking for electronic haha. I'll try that too.

So what I'm getting so far is that downloading tracks is a Herculean task and I should just accept the fact that I'll be streaming most of it. If that's what it takes for me to blossom in this genre, I'll do it

Previously from http://mp3.com, before it went all commercial and silly.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
