The I hate spring thread
« on: Thu, 05 March 2015, 20:05:41 »
Gosh I hate spring.
Annoying weather - warm one day, cold the next sometimes.
More daylight causes cancer and more noise - screaming children playing outside, more bicyclers. Kids give me a migraine. Have to make sure I don't run those runts over too while driving. Bicyclers are just *******s.
Allergies.
Warm weather makes me want to drink soda and eat pie. That makes me fat. Oh ice cream too. **** ice cream.
Gosh, I can't wait to complain about summer in a few months.

I like winter, like mid spring, but I cannot stand the transition between winter and spring, dark, disgusting colored snow, random and jumpy temps, and the mix of slush, rain, and snow.

Spring comes before my birthday, which is a reminder that I've wasted another year of my life without finding anything satisfying to make me want to extend my stay in the physical realm.  I would leave but that would be hard on those who appreciate my existence so I just carry on while attempting to wear a happy mask.  It's during springtime that the happy couples emerge and wander the streets hand in hand, and while I have no desire to join their ranks I can't help but be jealous that something so simple can bring them joy.

At work those who have the power to do so refuse to turn the heating off so my office is already as hot as it will be at the height of summer, and I'd best get used to that as there's no air conditioning so the temperature won't improve until autumn.

At least the plants and flowers outside look good, and baby animals and birds are cute!

I hate spring because of the seasonal allergies I have and it comes in the way of summer. Definitely more of a winter hater though. Living in Montreal, Canada sucks balls for that.

Annoying weather - warm one day, cold the next sometimes.
If you don’t like seasons, there are options. Where I am the daily high temperature ranges from 60–85 °F throughout the year.

Have to make sure I don't run those runts over too while driving. Bicyclers are just *******s.
Don’t drive a car. Problem solved.

I hate spring because it means the winter is almost over, so that the skiing season is over.
I'd gladly have winter all year to be able to ski every week-end.

I hate spring because hay fever.

Fortunately it is autumn over here :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My only issue with spring is it means I can't run cheese through my smoker until the next winter.

In Florida we don't have spring. Or fall. Or winter. Just a 2 week break from summer around January-February.

Haha good one. But the skirts are such a nice view in Montreal during spring. Imagine yourself stuck in 5-6 months of cold and then BAM, nice weather comes back.

The only one I have attempted in temperatures well above freezing is parmesean.  I run my smoker in the winter, just not for cheese.  Way to difficult to keep the temps low enough.

The biggest reason I hate spring is it means no more smoking cheese until it gets cold again.  Speaking of which, ran the last batch of the season through the smoker tonight.

it was +15 and sunny yesterday.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. 55°F in FL, the windows get shut, furnace goes on, and hooded sweatshirts come out of storage.

55°F in Iowa, furnace goes off, every window in the house is open, can wear shorts again without looking like an idiot.

I can't wait until it gets to 55°F here, we were close today at 45°F. 55 is drive around with all windows down weather! I might take Wednesday off of work just because is currently projected to be 53°F. I hate the cold. I don't know why I continue to live where I do, except for when that first nice day hits it is like heaven on earth.

If I could wear shorts at my job, I would have today.  We walked to lunch today and it was so warm I shouldn't have worn my jacket.  And I got to drive with the windows down today which was awesome.
