Funny story--something that just happened
« on: Fri, 01 April 2016, 17:06:55 »
I was just on the phone with a allergy clinic that called to schedule an appointment with my wife for testing her allergies. When the receptionist was typing in some information, I heard the distinct click of clicky Cherry MX switches, and I said, "You're typing on a mechanical keyboard, aren't you?"

She started laughing.

Then I said, "I can tell it's probably blue Cherry MX switches from the clicky sound."

She giggled and said, "They just feel so different from other keyboards, right? The typing just flows so smoothly."

I tell her I'm a writer and have over a dozen different keyboards with different types of mechanical switches, and she asks me what I'm writing.

Just thought that was funny.

That is pretty random, usually people put you on hold if they're going to type lots but sounds like she wanted to show off her board :))

I mainly write speculative fiction. Currently I've been working on a novel series about the secret wars fought in the shadows of our world, where organized crime, corporations, law-enforcement, military, governments, etc., all have begun using supernatural resources in their constant power struggles to control or eliminate their opponents. I use the premise to explore themes related to sociopolitical issues, human nature, the course of human civilization, etc. Been working on it for a few years, and it's actually a reboot/reimagining of the graphic novel series I worked on in the early 90's that only had 4 issues published. Now I'm much older and I think I can do a much better job than I did when I was in my 20's.

Ahahahah! She was the first person I told the story to right after I got off the phone. And no, I'd be stupid to cheat on her--she's the most wonderful thing to have every happened to me, and I can't imagine hurting her or living without her.  :-* Hell, if you go to my website, you'll see the huge photography section I have dedicated to her.

Cool. I'll probably do a little bit of promoting at my usual online hangouts when the book is published, so keep an eye out.  It's going to be years from now though, since there are multiple books in the series and I'm not a fast writer, so if I have the first book published while the next book isn't even finished, I could end up taking far too long with the subsequent books. So it's a good idea to have at least a couple of books finished as buffer.

Seems like you're already building a solidly convincing narrative to divert suspicion..

Go on....

This one time, my wife brought home a cute girl she met while out shopping. She told her that her husband is a good photographer who liked to shoot photos of cute girls, and she often assisted him during the shoots. The girl was intrigued and the two of them came home together. And as we started shooting the session, one thing led to another, and before we knew it, we were.....  :p

WTH, the post office can't afford mechanical keyboards. They're all using cheap Dell, HP, and Microsoft membrane keyboards.
