What happened to dem' BEAST laptops ??

So, the Lenovo Workstation laptop has a [dual core] 5600u..  I mean.. wth... where the quad cores..

well to be fair they are excellent for dramas where the special agent must gain access to the server room to find the mole.

Overpowered laptops are near useless. They usually weigh 15-20lbs, have the battery life of power plant run by AAs, and get so hot they will literally melt through plastic surfaces.

If it's not actually useful or portable, there's absolutely zero reason to spend 2-3x the money on one over a desktop that has the same specs.

Also what the **** is anyone going to need four cores for? Bearly any software actually ****ing uses them properly, so your better off anyway... the real question is why the **** is Apple the only company making decent displays on there laptops these days... I have an old (like 10 years or something) 15" Dell with a 16x12 resolution that looks better than 90% of current 1080p laptop screens... that's a proper piss take

they were selling NEW lenovo w541 for $1500 yesterday.. WITH a super duper 4910mq and Quadro 2100m and 2880 res monitor


So.... Yea.. I was very very tempted..  It's not gonna game at all, but for a laptop, it's SERIOUSLY up there for $1500 NEW..

You used to have "gaming" laptops like the Dell XPS series, but now they have moved to more like the Razer thing I dont know what it's called. Neither of which you really want because neither of which are really any good.

I had it built from the ground up. Part of the reason it wound up costing so much.

Well for me personally. I may be in china for 2-3 months this year.. sigh.... i know .. it's gonna be kinda awful..

So, I could get there, build a pc, OR bring a laptop that wouldn't be horribad to use..

Which is why I leaned towards getting the w541

You can rent high end PCs and just bring your own HD. I did that when I went to India, it was sweet but the internet speeds were absolute garbage.

Why don't you just buy the components in the state, breadboard it/test it and then bring it over?
Get a cheap chinese monitor and case in China.
