When you read "Off Topic", assume it is as far from the topic as you can possibly imagine.

Also I lost it at the "rocky road" breaking the cone.

Of course, and then proceeded to order a squatty potty like any sensible adult would.

This isn't some new thing/fad/etc. It's actually the best way to expel your waste. It opens your plumbing up better, and helps expel any unwanted leftovers.

Many countries still use this squatting position as the primary way to poo.

I know intelli vouched for it. I've heard of them years ago, and they make sense considering we, as humans, used to crouch for thousands of years. And, as Bro, pointed out, in many places we still do.

Edit:
Intelli was all over the bidet.
I used a bidet in Germany. Scared the crap off of me the first time. Got used to it real quick.

This is the same thing they use in medical enema places. Just helps you push the poop out, but honestly it doesn't do anything you can't do by pressing on your tummy and leaning forward on the toilet. Does the same thing and you don't have to spend $60 on some plastic stairs.

In the Middle East it is. The Arab ability to squat for extended periods of time is really impressive.

Squatting is well known in the world outside the backwards Western countries. Culturally, it means more than just a convenient posture for taking a dump.

For example, in Russia, squatting might be an attacking posture

118607-0

Or a sign of trust between ladies

A path to enlightenment

Or a political message

Thank you.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Saw this on Shark Tank awhile back.  These people are making serious cash.  However, the same thing could be accomplished a cardboard box. Get the dimensions of the Squatty Potty, then get a cardboard box of similar dimensions.  Done.

It's normal for public washrooms in China to have squatting toilets - although some houses do too.  Most average houses have sitting toilets.

I guess the key advantages to buying one are it's easier to clean, more durable, and it tucks under the seat when you're done.

It depends  on when the house/apartment was renovated..

The older, the more likely it is to have a squatting toilet..

Almost ALL new renovations have the standards seat.

Um, well,  there's always been all sorts of trouble with squatting..

For example,  OLD people often have trouble,  so they would've used something like a small bench, which works like a toilet seat..  they just move their butts off the back of it..

Post industrial,  in the beginning they had those spittoon looking buckets that kids and old people used to do poo..

They've had things very similar to the toilet seat since forever..
