Newish meaning what, exactly? My friend has an FX 6300 and it's because she wanted an inexpensive multi-thread processor.

Not new, but I've had an 8350 for a few years. I'm waiting for Zen before I upgrade.

Got an 8350 now. Been using AMD since the introduction of socket 7.

I've used other systems with Intel and for my real world usage it doesn't really make a difference, not enough to feel I need to change.

All stock speeds. Never cared to overclock. My system does what I need it to or I start replacing stuff. I don't think I'm a very demanding user.

Right now in the PC build i did last year i'm running an AMD 6300. Before that i had an intel core 2 quad still. Right now its at stock because my motherboard has stability issues with it's VRM, but i like overclocking, i got my particular chip up to 4.9 Ghz on air ( an enermax white cluster cpu cooler)  with temps not going above 55 C. Of course if i were going to do an everyday overclock id keep it at 4.3 or 4.5 ish. I went AMD for a budget gaming pc, i really dont need anything better at the time being.

I originally bought an 8120 in 2012 which was on-par with the 2500K gaming-wise. I upgrade to the 8350 when it came out a year later. I've definitely been happy with it, especially on Linux with really good multithreading support. I also don't overclock, but may consider doing it if I upgrade from my GTX 760.

Anyone ?

I honestly haven't seen one for a while now..

I have an 8350 in my HTPC. I used to be a HUGE AMD fanboy back in the day (like ~2000, when they were sponsoring QuakeCon) but my zealot like love died when I got ahold of a i7 2600k when they first came out and saw how much faster the Intel's are. Its really a huge difference, gaming wise and OC wise.

The 8350 works really really well for my HTPC, although I crammed a msi 7950 in there. Steam on it is pretty freaking nice, I havent really been able to slow it down with my current game lineup. And it runs stuff like Dophin with no slow down.

I still like AMD, but Intel's cpus are just dramatically faster. For a rig that doesnt care about speed, AMD all day. And also the onboard AMD videocards are actually really nice and you can game with them!

I have an fx-6350, bought it last black Friday in a bundle with a motherboard for $95, really good deal for a placeholder CPU until I plan on upgrading this year..

I think their A series line and their lower end products do a lot better than their FX line since Intel pretty much dominates the enthusiast grade market.

My other rationale for continuing with AMD on both CPU and GPU was how much of the console market they secured so I was going on possibly better ports. Probably doesn't matter but that was definitely a fraction of my decision making. Maybe my next major upgrade will be Intel and Nvidia.

If you do anything multicore/threading optimized the 6350 will kill the  g3258. Of course you do have a better upgrade path.

um.... if you require "SPEEEEED"  of any sort,  you wouldn't buy either the 6350 or the g3258,  so,  that's really not much of an argument..

Also,  there are VERY FEW consumer apps optimized for multicore period...

Pretty much any modern game is multi core optimized, if you have anything less than a quad core gaming performance takes a massive hit.

Unless zen is out by the time i upgrade and its good for the price, i'm going to be moving to Intel on my next upgrade. Right now im useing an R9 285 and im fairly happy with there GPU's. If the intel/amd based system is near the same price to performance as the AMD system i will genrally lean towards AMD because of the anti competitive stuff going on lately. But if i can get a lot more for my money going with nvidia i will.

Wouldn't recommend Nvidia for GPU, that company is cancer. Read up on gameworks.

One of the reasons i've stayed away from nvidia for a while. I have no problems suggesting Nvidia when im doing a build for someone else, but if im the one spending money i prefer it not go to a company that pulls a lot of shady stuff with there dev tool's and then go out of there way to disable things like hardware acceleration in VM's and other features that power user's need, or well at least want... lol. While being told that they need to move up to the quadro and other pro lines to get those features when from a hardware standpoint there lower tier stuff is completely capable of supporting said features.

If you want to really know how AMD is doing right now, take a good look at your PS4 and XBox One.

I use a FX8320 got it back in 2012 when it came out was rather cheap for a quad core (I know it says 8 core but I still think it's only 4 due to sharing comps) otherwise fine for my needs I'm not super crazy into getting max frames so it's fine also the fact it was cheap I think my entire system was around £400-£500 or something which was nice even included a Windows 8 pro upgrade key to boot, main reason for me is that it was cheap Intel is too expensive for what you get personally and again I'm not super fussed about frame rate, but next build in a few years will most likely be Intel as I want something that draws less power unless amd make a big improvement :X
