8-10 hours to learn to type on it? Takes me 8-10 years to learn how to touch type! F Dat.

I believe that this is mostly designed for a very niche market.  Mostly for the healthcare industry.  So the nurse can take notes without losing eye contact and that sort of thing.  Not sure how well it will work using tablets for this sort of work.  I could see them having to dock and or sync constantly.  Which could be a bit of an issue given most tablets fairly lackluster battery performance.  Although one thing I did notice when reading was, "The keys on the latest model are mechanical, and so they have a nice feel to them.".

Yeah as Melvang said I can't see these ever becoming particularly popular outside of certain fields.  Right now they're simply too ugly to make it something you'll see as you walk around.  I think it'd be awesome if someone here got their hands on one and was able to take it apart for us though!

It’s a cute idea, but damn that's bulky. Would be better to make a much smaller thing, angled carefully for wrist comfort, that fits in one hand [leaving the other free for screen gestures] and uses chording to type.

Something vaguely along the lines of the Twiddler, but I’d prefer to have 2 keyboard-style mechanical switches per finger and use somewhat flatter fingers, rather than the Twiddler’s guitar-claw-style.

So this stuff is sorta ergo, sorta uber-convenient, sorta making use of other technology, sorta weird, sorta interesting. Definitely niche.

Hate to bump an older thread, but the product is actually in stock at this company in Canada:

Definitely an odd layout and concept with a niche market, but interesting because it is a keyboard.

This looked interesting and they're probably right about the learning curve - apart from finding the mods it's a standard layout so it will be second nature, assuming they keys are full size (looks like they are).  Then I read it's a mech and it was very interesting.  Then it's in stock?  Great!

Sadly the shop says it's got a membrane, $400 for a rubber dome is a little steep.
