I stayed in Beijing most of the time I was in China and cant point out any shops in Shanghai
But I can tell you one thing, be very careful with fakes, rejected items, defects and price (bargaining)

Good luck :)

Any good shops in Beijing that you know of?

Don't want to hijack OP's thread but I'll be in China for 2 weeks in May, arriving in Beijing first.

most vendors expect you to bargain, so be ready to negotiate heavily

Makes you wonder, doesn't it, why there's such a big difference that way between the Chinese and Japanese cultures?

In the PRC it seems like everyone's out for themselves; stories of fakery, fraud and corruption are everywhere.

In Japan, it's considered dishonorable to cheat people (hey, maybe because it is dishonorable), and I've found most people there will go considerably out of their way to be helpful and honest.

Maybe it's because the PRC's average standard of living is still far below that of Japan, so there's more pressure to succeed at any cost? And of course every person is different, so obviously one can't generalize too much. Overall, though, between the societies there seems to be a stark contrast in values.

Hope you find a place!

I had my girlfriend buy me some Ducky keycaps and a gaming pad when she went to Taiwan! Prices were 1/3 of what they were here.
Such artisan, many caps, very keyboard.

Always searching for Bro caps!

Shop right now on taobao, and send it all to your family member, and pick them up.

There is Zero point in buying electronics stuff in stores in China,  it costs more and it's the exact same stuff as on taobao.

that's what I'm planning on doing, but I'm not sure whether there are maybe some hidden gems that not many people know about

I assure you, if they make it in China, it's on Taobao.. from steel rods to keyboards.
