Corsair K65 switch repair possible broken circuit on the PCB
« on: Sat, 19 March 2016, 13:27:26 »
Hi there

I am having issue with my Corsair K65 Non RGB after i accidentally dropped my xbox 360 controller on the keyboard and having problems with the N key on the keyboard afterwards.

It works but I have to put more force on the keyboard in order to register a keystroke and there I believed that the MX red switch was damaged.

So I ordered new red switch module and today I began to disassemble the keyboard which was quite easy.

On closer inspection I noticed that the N key placement on the PCB, On the D77 label which was the N, The green PCB and soldering was sticking out looks like it was loose connection from the key after the controller hit on it and I was wondering if this can be fix the right way as I originally though this would be a simple desoldering and re soldering but want to be sure if it can be fixed.

If anyone gives me advice on how to fix this i would be much appreciated

Oh ouch! Looks like the pad lifted a bit. Is there still some points left to solder the switch to?

The pad is lifted but as long as it's still soldered to the switch it should work.

If it doesn't work all you need to do to fix it is solder a little wire between that switch leg and the bottom of D77 - you were lucky and damaged the easiest part of the circuit to repair :)

just solder to d77 from the lifted pad, or rip the pad off, and use a small piece of copper directly..

Straight forward fix..
