changing switches.
« on: Mon, 28 March 2016, 13:35:29 »
So I'm pretty much new to modding keyboards, and I have a pok3r in blues, and I was wondering if I can switch the internals to reds? I have a spare keyboard and I miss reds for gaming (Not gonna use the other keyboard, I'm used to the 60% formfactor now)

So pretty much really only asking, can I switch from blues to reds without resoldering the whole keyboard?

Nope, the poker plate doesn't allow it. You'd have to desolder them all.

Derp, no way to only change the internals?

Nope. Only certain custom plates or keyboards without plates can have Cherry switches opened while soldered.

I would recommend getting one of those custom plates and then desoldering the whole board. That way you will ALWAYS be able to swap out switches on your Pok3r

Merlin, could you elaborate on this?  I'm thinking of  swapping my Poker 3 with Mx Browns to Gateron browns.
KPB V60 Gateron Browns and Leopold Keycaps.  Poker 3 with Gateron Browns and Poker keycaps.  Poker 3 with Cherry MX Browns, ABS keycaps and white LED's.

Leopold FC660M- my new favorite, right out of the box.

LeandreN's for example.

His GB is closed but someone hasn't paid yet.

He might have extras to sell and he's also from Norway. You might wanna get in touch with him.
My opensource projects: GH80-3000, TOAD, XMMX. Classified: stuff

No do not do this.. Not worth the labor.

It's cheaper and SIGNIFICANTLY less WORK, to just buy another poker red...
