My new roomate
« on: Sun, 10 July 2016, 10:52:51 »
People of Geekhack, meet Herman. He lived on the ceiling above my Keurig; poor Herman was down on his luck. He couldn't pull his weight so I have to move him outside. :'(

I guess it was a female Peucetia Viridans (Green Lynx Spider). I've never seen one in a house, the thing must have hitchhiked on some clothing or something. Time to mow the grass :)

Herman is only suited for house living,  he's a domesticated spider..

By moving him outside, You've killed Herman..

He is not adapted to ---the wild.. .

I have two house spiders, Harry and Howard. Maybe spider names are just expected to begin with an H?

The Wiki article I read said that the males average .5in/13mm in length. The one I took a picture of was about 1-1.5in/25-38mm /shrug

It looks like something one might find in Australia. It's probably best to kill it with fire. Twice.

Anything that brightly coloured gotta be highly toxic
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

What a lovely little guy, spiderbro confirmed? I used to have a lime green roommate as well, he was a tiny grasshopper that appeared one day and spent his afternoons chilling at the corner of my room. Never had a chance to ask his name, now he's probably dead or chillin' in Costa Rica. Maybe both.
