Feminine TKL? ^_^
« on: Mon, 18 July 2016, 19:49:11 »
Hey guys,

Weird request. I'm looking for a feminine TKL keyboard (pink, light blue, etc). Something like the limited edition metallic pink TLK filco would be really nice (its DC now). No weird fonts on the keys, no gaming logos, no over the top backlight (non or standard only).

If anyone knows where I can purchase one, please let me know.

Thanks

What about a Miami set on just about anything?

Thanks, these look great. I've looked through the site and it seems like they have a large variety of different keycaps. Do you know if these keycaps are universal with cherry MX keyboards?

Leopold FC700 (white) seemed quite feminine - any white keyboard really

They'll fit standard layout Cherry MX keyboards (Ducky, Filco, WASD, etc). In fact, that's another option. WASD keyboards will let you customize the keycap colors. Forgot about that...

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/

Some keyboards, like my Logitech G710, have non-standard keycap sizes on the bottom row, so a set like this won't fit.

Just pick out a keyboard and come here to ask first if one of these sets will fit.

This is really nice. I think I may use this one as the base.

If you order directly from Varmilo, they can customize it for you.

They had a TKL on massdrop just recently and the white case is pretty cute, but if you contact Miya and order through her you could get more options for stock keycaps in nice colorways such as pink with blue modifiers or pink with hot pink legends. There're some examples on this thread. From what I've seen, the shipping from China doesn't take long at all if you order from them.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My wife has one of these: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/keycool-rainbow-keyboard

I think it definitely qualifies as a feminine TKL. I'm not sure where else you can get them, but she likes hers and it seems well made.

Well, you can get whatever keyboard you want and get the Miami keycap set. It's actually on Massdrop.com right now as a matter of fact.

Dunno if the teal is feminine enough. Of course, the SP set is a bit darker I think so I can't give an opinion on the taihao

Got this keyset for my wife's board (a Phantom I made for her) and she digs it.

It's feminine without being Hello Kitty Barbie unicorns & rainbows.

It's hard to guess without knowing the person...but if we're going for the typical white/pink combo, white Filco and DCS Miami keysets would be easiest/quickest to obtain. Then there's stuff like GMK/DSA Valentine, and high end customs like the pink 456GT.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Seems like the best thing to do is get a keyboard and just replace the keycaps.

Rather than pay for keycaps you'll be changing, anyway, WASD sells keyboards without keycaps. Just buy a barebones keyboard and the keycap set you like.

WASD keyboards is the fastest option to get  Pink/ Blue

In the end though... Since you're a female..  I'd like to point out that a WASD has no swagger..

It doesn't have the same Flash-prowess as the Korean Customs,   Kmac, LZ,

Think of Kmac, LZ, like the stuff you buy at Nieman Marcus,    Whereas the WASD, is like Macy...

Tp4 (me) is #Ronery4ever here at Geekhack,  so basically, no amount of keyboard bling will be useful to someone like me,  a WASD keyboard would work fine for someone of my happenstance..

But, if there is at all a social element to your lifestyle,  then PERHAPS consider the Obscure Luxury Brands,   Since even at KMAC's price,  it's ALOT less than the basic Chanel Handbag
