Made Prison Ramen Tamale
« on: Mon, 22 August 2016, 13:19:19 »
Saw the reddit thread..

Thought I'd try it... Went down to the wawa to get ingredients..

Did it authentic using Hot tap water and cooking in the bag..

It looks awful so I'm not gonna post any fotos of the attempt.

Tastes, alrite,  just wayyy too salty..  I'm not sure how anyone could eat much of this, because there's no soup to dissolve the powder you'd put in.

Interesting, I might have to try this...what if you used less flavor packets would that make it less salty?

Just be a normal person and add egg and peanut butter to your ramen.

Yea I think Probably only use 1 quarter to 1 half the seasoning packet at most.. (depends on the size of ur seasoning packet)

I think I'm gonna use a Thicker towel to keep it warm for a bit longer, and maybe put it in the Sun..

The ramen cooked, but not thoroughly .

When I used to work at the jail, the inmates would always make a "spread." :)

Did you cook the ramen in a trash bag? Otherwise it's not prison authentic.

They only use the trashbag for large batches, if their chip bag isn't big enough.

I bought a large bag of fritos, so everything fit in there.

A chip bag is good because it comes with preflavored grease :)

And it's foiled, which reflects the Infrared heat internally for more even cooking...

If you cook the ramen in its own bag, be sure to wrap it with a towel to help insulate it and keep the heat in. About half an hour later you will have cooked ramen.

Did they also do toilet wine?

I went to grad school with someone whose wife did some work with a nonprofit at a jail.  The ingenuity of inmates with recipes was crazy.  I think they were working on putting out a prison cookbook.

Yes, but this was in county, so we did shakedowns regularly. Like every couple days. So there really wasn't enough time to ferment anything. They usually wouldn't even try, since, why waste good fruit?

I know at least 20 people in real life who crush instant noodles in the bag, add powder, and eat it dry...

These are BAD people.. People who are apathetic.. People without the Desire to Improve.. People without a Future..

You don't want to associate with them..
