the new Captain America: Civil War movie is the first superhero movie i really liked, after the first Iron Man.
imo the other ones are all pretty bad, some are even actually terrible.
in Civil War i really felt like the heroes finally showed some heart and character, particularly captain american himself, iron man and the villain. conflict, decisions, responsibility, all that stuff. it just felt a lot more mature than the other movies. (
and to think that iron man was supposed to have a very small role..!)
most of the action was also turned up a notch (in a positive way), i felt. it's common in movies to see fighting that makes no sense; punches that easily could've been avoided, or otherwise illogical moves that definitely would've been countered.. stuff like that. this time though, i didn't get the feeling i was looking at some poorly scripted or poorly performed stuff. (most of it, at least.)
yeah, i was pleasantly surprised by this one. :-)
i also quite liked Watchman, but only the theater cut. i didn't like the extended cuts in comparison. :-/
(i don't consider nolan's work superhero movies)
