SO, Tp4 were on the line at the Subshop, staying current with the slickdeals app, waiting for more SSD deals..


The Two people in front, one boy and one girl began to chat up (20-25yr olds), and got to the part where they were going to exchange contact information..

They were turned sideways so Tp4 couldn't help witnessing this go down.. They were having a lively conversation and seem interested in one another.

The two of them began to reach for their phones.

The girl pulls out what was surely an iphone (idk what ver)..

The guy pulls out one of those (free) smartphones (unknown) that they give away when you sign up.. it was clean and new, just an off-brand

And the girl's face drops as she saw his phone.. a look of disgust and aversion.. just total disappointment

This is the first time, I've ever seen such a dramatic change in emotions at the appearance of a phone..

Of course she instantly picked up her face, and attempted to smile..


They did the number xchange, The guy was clueless,  but from Tp4's perspective, Something was up.....



Luckily The guy was doing takeout,  while the girl sat in to eat her 6inch half sub..


Before Tp4 left the store w/ his turkey,  Tp4 walked over and asked her straight up..


Tp4:

--" Hey, would it have been extremely different if that dude had an iphone"--

Girl:

--" Omg, you saw that.. I'm so embarrased // abashed look. "--

Tp4:

--" I'm a cave dweller type, is that the modern perspective on hand accessories "--

Girl:

--" Well, I was somewhat disappointed yes (TRUTH)...

........ But I'm still going to call him.... xxxx ... xxxx... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx....xxxxxxx

........xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx....xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...xxx......



TP4 noticed..   Rapid speech, eye movement toward left and right upper corners.. hands around stomach...   She said --I'm going to call him-- 3 times-- while explaining how and why she's still going to call him..



Analysis...


There's honestly nothing wrong with that guy or girl,    and the reality of the matter is.. neither is really too unintelligent as to be truly Shallow..

However,  Modern social cues seems to have fully adopted the possession of an Apple device as THE gate keeping item for the economic class divide..



Conclusion:    If want female.. .   Buy Iphone..   even if it's just to get over that initial hurdle of perceptions..  It's no different than clean shoes or clean clothes that fit.

I don't think you can time your rentals for it to be effective..   Also, if you think about Leasing/ Financing/ Trade-Ins,  We already have a system in place similar to rentals..


But the point I was trying to make is,  I don't believe those two youngsters were truly Shallow..


I think,  off-brand phones have the same MODERN perceptual status(interpretation) as   Dirty hands/ Stained shirt/ Muddy shoes.


To be more Descriptive..  An Iphone is the divide between the Perception (NOT total indication) of the Proletariat and the Bourgeoisie..

I had the G3.  Android without modification is so much better.  Nexus all the way

I had a G3 too, custom vanilla android ROM and rooted all to hell. Haven't felt the need to do so with the G4. My best friend still mocks android and she has a lame ol' Iphone 5
