Okay, I didn't really want to post in this thread, but the "power hungry" comments are getting ridiculous. This situation is on the OP.
First off, let me say that there is good forum moderating and bad. However, the only thing that seems anywhere close to "bad" is how this mod phrased "don't argue with the mods." The mod was simply telling the OP not to start a fight over his ban, which the OP did anyway and predictably got penalized further for it. The mod had a right to do that, if not an outright responsibility--no forum worth its salt will tolerate that kind of behavior. That the OP just got a couple of days added on to his rather lenient temporary ban seems pretty forgiving if you ask me.
Of course, then the OP took his gripes here--a separate forum that shares little more than a few members and a common topic--to complain about his "poor treatment". That is poor forum etiquette--the OP is basically drawing another group into his fight, which is incredibly rude and/or obnoxious behavior depending on who you talk to.
Neither r/mm nor GeekHack mods are paid as far as I know. They do what they do on a volunteer basis, and spend the rest of their time in their own lives, at jobs that pay, and possibly taking care of families and kids. They quite literally don't have the time to settle inter-forum petty squabbles. The mods aren't the internet police, and forums aren't democracies. Mods honestly don't have to tell you anything that the people above them don't require them to.
Keep in mind that when the mod said that he and r/mm's other mods don't like people questioning their bans, this was not the same as forbidding the OP from asking questions about his ban. The mod just meant that they don't like users arguing about them and pushing their point--which, by the way, is exactly what the OP did. Most forums have a rule specifically forbidding arguing with mods--I don't know if r/mm has this as an official rule, but it generally falls under common sense even if it isn't posted.
To the OP: this should be taken as an opportunity for learning. I suggest you use the time your ban has given you to learn how to read rules, talk to the mods and pick up some general forum etiquette. If you don't, experiences like this will only keep happening.
