thoughts on laptops with forward keyboards?

ive never seen anything like this but it seems like this would be ideal if youre gaming with your laptop on a table.
seems more ergonomic and you dont have the trackpad in the middle of your keyboard like 99% of laptops get in the way. I imagine it also stays cooler more often than other laptops.

There's been a few that way, Sony has done it a few times, just 2 years ago or so on the SVD convertible.

I personally hate it, I want my keyboard placed further from me than that.  I also prefer small laptops and that means there's not enough room on the side like there is on that monster.*

Yes, it's only a 15in screen, I prefer 11.6 or smaller.

A laptop with integrated wrist rest can very well be used in the lap when snuggled up in a settee or in bed.
One without can be comfortably used only on a desk IMHO.

The very first IBM ThinkPads back in the '90s had no wrist rest in front of the keyboard, and with only a TrackPoint for pointing, they were relatively narrow. There was even a compact one that had a keyboard wider than the computer.

I expect that the reason in this case was not for style or a new way of use, but for fitting a larger heat sink for the CPU and GPU. I find this form factor to be ridiculous: expensive components without small size nor upgrade path.

I've used one, they're alrite.  15/17 inch are both kind of small for long-term use,  this keeb orientation makes that even smaller.

What is even the point of a "slim" laptop that has such a huge footprint anyway?
The only thing that accomplishes is it dying in a few years due to board flex or the LCD breaking.

Thinness doesn't make the LCD less durable. Board flex is mainly bad case design/ lack of rigidity.

Laptop LCDs are really only good for 10000 hours anyway, so it's not that big a deal. If you use a laptop with any real frequency, 3-4 years you should change out the LCD for a Fresh one.

If you look at laptop parts LCD ratings , they're only rated for 5000 hours. before they dim significantly

Trackpad on the side is better in most cases because due to my trackpad sensitivty being too high sometimes i misclick while typing.
