I dont want to take it apart as that will void the warranty. But thanks for the suggestion, i can mention that to the retailer.
Is there any other possiable reasons this could be happening.
Also has anyone sent anything to HP for repair? how long does it take?
Thanks
Are you sure removing the keyboard will void your warranty? I've serviced hundreds of HP (though mainly their higher-end lines of probook and eitebooks) and on most of them, the keyboard is designed to be user-removable. Oftentimes there is a ram chip under there. Usually for HP, the bottom cover and keyboard can be easily removed with a phillips head screwdriver and a steady hand, and the rest of the computer is normally secured with torx T6 screws.
Now, I haven't sent anything to HP for repair, but I have had lots of people send things to me for warranty repair. HP overnights us the parts, so we can maintain a turnaround time of ~3-5 business days, though it varies. When we send computers off to HP for repair (usually in the case that it's been too damaged, and HP might want to replace it for the customer) it takes a bit longer, though I can look up the exact numbers if you like.
That said, tp4tissue makes a good point: This could be an issue with the keyboard cable just needing to be re-seated, although in my experience, the issue could potentially also lie with the keyboard itself, or even the motherboard.
