"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Right now I think I need a desk to use it on instead of my lap! :P :D

But I think with this and maybe one of those realforce number pads (that i could lube and dental band mod), I might just have a new alternate setup.

Any good suggestions for desks? I've a;ways thought that those ikea corner desks were really good for computers but I never got to actually try one. I ended up picking one up form a local craigs list. (Huge old school corner desk that takes 3 people to move) ^_^

A good fairly solid desk with a layer or two (or 8) or drawer liner makes a world of difference!

Blaze Blue Wrapped KWK and a nice red Alps Esc key (thanks Melvang!). They actually got here yesterday but I didn't get home until late so I waited until today to take pictures.

+1

Except shipping to Australia would probably kill that idea before it got off the ground.

Got nothing, but a broken mailbox lock.

Someone broke into our mail box and stole whatever was in there, including the letter I had made that was from Santa for the kids.

Went with one of them to go check and we ended up finding some pliers on top of our neighbors mailbox which seems to have also been a target but was too difficult so they gave up >.>

Not sure if I feel unsafe overall or if just my mail is unsafe right now because of the holidays  :blank:

That sucks :(

I guess they are unlikely to be caught, but I hope you didn't lose anything of value (apart from the letter).

Paid a little more than I would have liked, but less than most people buying them.  My IBM 5140 with Brown Alps.  Now I'm trying to decide if I want to swap White Alps in and relist it or what.  Pictured with a toy from China from the giant single's day sale on aliexpress.

Brown Alps are definitely interesting.  I desperately need a 60% Alps board now.  I just have so many fun Alps to build with.

Edit:  And I laugh that CPTBadass loves Brown Alps, but hates Topre.  They almost feel like a heavier Topre to me.  Orange are the closest to Topre, but Browns do have that toward the top tactility and are pretty weighty.

Now if only I had a 60% to use it with...hint hint.

They are awesome switches.  I was surprised at how heavy they feel though.  They're definitely heavier than my tactile Green Alps.

Judging by the fact that he posted it with gold stabilizer wires, I am assuming he got it from Sprit.  I didn't realize that Sprit had those though...

The switch opener was a separate item I got a while back. I just thought it would look nice with the rest of the gold items. :)

P.S. I also don't recommend getting my particular metal switch opener. It costs $70 + shipping/customs to print, and damages the bottom housing after a couple opens if you're not careful. Plastic would be a cheaper route to go, but I'm still not satisfied with the "bottom-openers".

Thanks for letting me know. Is the angle just too steep on the opening tabs?

It was a commission I requested through sprit. Details tonight/tomorrow -- stabs won't be sold separately though.

No, I'm not worried about the opening tabs. These bottom openers (especially metal ones) wear out the two little "tabs" under the Cherry logo & LED position. Those two tabs are crucial for keeping a switch in place when plate mounted. Trying to press the tabs to release it from the switch opener also risks accidentally bending the metal contact leaf inside.

Yea

Cops just filed a report but nothing will be done of course

Just need to watch bank statements and be on the lookout for anything suspicious if anything
