Cool. I was wondering how they would look on a keyboard. This is the cap sold on Ctrlalt.io, isn't it?

Yup.

I just received my varmilo switch tester that I ordered through Massdrop on November last year.

It has the Gateron (Brown, Red, Blue, Clear, Black) + MX (Black, Red, Blue, Brown). It comes with transparent thick PBT caps.

However this is a mistake, it should have MX Clear, Green, Grey and Linear Grey. They mess up the product. I'll have to see with them how it goes because it seems that I'm not the only one with the problem.

Picked up a pair of these babies from Massdrop. Just had the idea that maybe they are modable so they can be used more than just as a switch tester...?
Lots of possibilities. There's more than enough room for a teensy in there!  :thumb:

Have you researched this? I'll look into the teensy things! Thanks for the tip.

Thanks but I'm not sure if I'll want a replacement. As it is right now, I can compare the MX to their counterparts. It would have been nice to get the rare MX but it is mostly to try them as I'm sure they are to heavy for me.

No worries, that is all I needed to know there.  I got in way toward the end, so mine will be a little while I think.  No worries as I am just now ordering a new soldering iron and solder today.

My mail day was awesome today!  Thanks to the huge generosity of dustinhxc, I am now the super lucky owner of a JD40!  I am currently typing on it now and wow, this is going to be a learning curve.  Already getting the basics, but I am not used to resting my right pinky on the enter key or pushing right alt to get a period.  I have the layouts printed out in front of me so that I can learn while I use it.  All in all, it is a super fun little piece of kit and I cant thank dustin enough.  He also included 2 complete sets of keys and a couple other bags of super random dsa caps so that I can change it how I feel.  Also in the box was a cool little card holder that is now the home to my assorted techkeys and ctrlalt business cards.  ;D

Yeah, they are ridiculous but I love 'em!

They're still sitting in those boxes staring at me right now... silly creatures.

The bigger cat likes to chew on cardboard though so I'll have to toss the boxes in the storage closet before he completely ingests the box he chose.....

Also... Am I crazy or something? Despite getting a PS4 in the mail today, I'm still more excited about Bro Caps that are still out for delivery.....

Got this odd little MX board module, it apparently came from some sort of old Zenith laptop. It has MX black and dyesub key all same row (home) similar to DCS.

Is the caps material PBT then? And, is there any way to get it to work with an USB connection? What controller does it have?

Yes just would need to add a controller onto that pin header above the 2 key as there isn't one on the pcb. Yeah PBT, but they are too smooth to be SP I think even though they look much like theirs otherwise, spacebar is also way too flat.

Nice finding, however it does not seem like an old keyboard, could it be a mod job? I like the layout a lot, and with those stepped keys it looks awesome. Congratulations pal.

I am going to attempt to make it my dd.  I may resort to hand writing on some blanks until I get used to it.  One thing it really needs is a "JD40" key  ;D.  I figure that would make a good enter key

One week to get here from Japan + one extra day because I needed to go to the post office to pick up the package.

The ones that keep messing with my head are the right shift and the enter key.

Yes, it definitely takes some getting used to.

I am going to attempt to make it my dd.  I may resort to hand writing on some blanks until I get used to it.  One thing it really needs is a "JD40" key  ;D.  I figure that would make a good enter key

you could always go with a label printer and clear labels for a temporary solution

Perfect!  I have my own at work.

Use Vibex's JWUP layout. :))

I already feel like this compared to normal every time I need punctuation:
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done
