Twas placed at the bottom of a box with bubble wrap placed on top where it does nothing (WTF). They could have maby put some on the bottom also.

But hey kinda happy ending.... I ripped the guts out of this French Canadian Model M I have and littery just swapped it out. case seems fine except for the guillotining of the plastic pegs that hold the guts in place.

Ow.  That keyboard was put through hell before it was even shipped, I would guess.  At least you were able to salvage the clamshell and use it.  Maybe you can improvise and perhaps use screws to hold the plate on both sides?  (The head has to be flat)  That might work.  Or maybe even glue new pegs where the old ones were.  (Better idea)

I have thought about my next move, I am going to bolt mod the original sandwich and see if can be saved. I already had the thought of using screws to replace the pegs, so I am going to give that a go but I think the French-Canadian is going to get an intentional guillotining (Hehe French and guillotine) so I can see if it will work nicely.

Very nice!

A smidgen darker blue would be perfect :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Got a cable from Pexon today. Top notch quality, and I recommend to anyone who doesn't already own any of Pexon's cables, go get one.

That was why I went with Pexon as well. From what I have seen they all three make amazing cables, and my next one will most likely come from mimic. I believe mimic has cotton candy in stock, which is the same pattern, but I could be mistaken.

I think you misunderstood me.  I was talking about the pegs that hold the assembly in place.  The ones in the yellow circles here.

Though that would be a cool rendition, I think it's perfect because of how translucent it is~~

No misunderstanding, thats what i am talking about too. But before i drill into the industrial i was thinking of cutting them off my other board and testing using screws to check for issues/make sure it works. You know how sometimes bad things dont happen until you try something, i wanna do my best to protect the industrial

Two things came in the mail for me today.

First, a box of switches (clear and green) for my upcoming supersecretawesomeprojectthattotallywontendintears.

Second, my 3D printed cap.  There is nothing exciting about this one, just a test of my CAD skills and seeing how everything comes out after the shrinkage and all that.

It is spherical, and the height is somewhere between Signature Plastic's DSA and SA row 3 profiles

I'm glad I did this test run.  The stem shrank in a way I didn't expect, and the cruciform is a bit too big.  It slips on and off the stems too easily.  This is an easily fixable problem.

Meanwhile, half the travel distance away in Dallas, my package has yet to even scan in to a receiving post office. Vegas must really have some beef with us because every time delivery is a few days past the estimation.

  • Missed another sale.
