actually for me in my circle of friends, i'm the only one who doesn't turn on the tv(i still have to pay for basic cable in order to get internet, stupid comcast, and no fios and dsl sucks). Using Hulu on a htpc to watch programming is too difficult for most everyone, even tho they've even put netflix/hulu on xboxs/ps3's it's still too difficult for most, also many watch sports (i don't), also if there was a couple involved, it is usually difficult to convince the significant other (usually the girl) to go cable/tv less, cuz then they would miss out on their programming.
which doesn't actually put me as uninformed, aside from "who wont the game last nite" (i was up on the top olympic stories)i'm still more up to date on current events/pop culture blah blah than everyone else in my circle, so being cable/tv less isn't a handicap, but again i think it's too difficult for most to setup and there are too many drawbacks to just say "screw it, i'll pay the 80bucks a month".
