Gigabyte Aivia Osmium
« on: Fri, 12 October 2012, 23:08:07 »
Anyone seen/used one of these boards? I've been lurking for info about it for some time, but I can't even find where it's made just so I can guess which OEM makes it...

So, what's the info about it? A dealbreaker like those Cooler Master keyboards which are actually good, or just a manufacturer joining the mechanical gamer keyboards bandwagon with iOne, just like Logitech just did a few weeks ago?

And by the way, couldn't Gigabyte get an uglier and longer name for a keyboard than that?

This Osmium are probably from iOne.

BTW, this board isn't Gigabyte first mechanical board. They did it few years back, but stopped due to poor demand/market.

Also, I am also pretty sure that Logitech isn't made by iOne. More of a same OEM of Corsair k60/90.

BTW, the name is already pretty short. Razer Blackwidow Ultimate [insert model here] is longer.

Not many people know about this board. I believe it is an iRocks with those 3 1.5 left modifiers.

k60 and k90 is pretty surely iONE based on the bottom row. irocks doesn't make that bottom row. they make the weird bigger ones.

Sure is short, but sure is an ugly one, almost as ugly as the previous board's appearance.

And are ya sure the k60 and k90 aren't made by iOne? I've seen like hundreds of RMA cases on both and they're not very well made from what I've heard, in comparison to the CM boards such as the Quickfire Rapid.

Besides, the keyboard itself looks like a piece of failure. For start, look where the hell they put those macro keys!

Modifier wise, it is different(normal Cherry style vs Costar/iOne steel wire style)
Switch mounting wise, also different(5pins PCB mounted with aluminum plate vs typical steel mounted)
Keycaps wise, it also quite different(Corsair's one as below with significantly less curvy keytop while older BWU series using a tall DCS profile keycaps with quite curvy surface with a thin and fragile "X" stem, newer iOne make board having durandale tyle of "+" stem), you also notice that Corsair is putting a "-" on their numpad "5" instead of normal "."

Layout wide, it is still different(1.5,1.0,1.25,6.5,1.25,1.0,1.0,1.5 vs iOne's known 1.5,1.0,1.5,6.0,1.5,1.0,1.0,1.5)

Nope it doesn't, US$ 120 is kinda like normal for these illuminated keyboards, but, what really makes me not like it is the fact that the macro-keys are all the way up there and that the USB HUB and Audio extension is on the right side of the keyboard, instead of behind it.
