I dunno... Last time we talked it was all about shipping and that was after he mentioned he was working on them. My guess is that he is waiting until he's made at least one of each so he doesn't have to send me pics multiple times. He did also give an estimate on time, should be 1-2 more weeks, and I'm not sure if that includes shipping/transit time. So we could be getting close!

I've basically learned this during this group buy...

But really guys I'm guessing Imsto is just ignoring my messages until he has news I want to hear, such as the keycaps being done even though they're behind schedule. He probably doesn't want to message me and say "well I said they would be done last week but they still need another week so." Or that he managed to get time to take pictures while something was printing, I dunno. All I do know is that I somewhat did the same to him while I was waiting for the rest of the money to come in from the 2nd round so I'm in no position to nag him to hurry up.

I'm seriously just waiting to see a PM in my inbox with whatever updates Imsto has, I'm sure if it was anything that I'd need to do anything for he would have told me, so the silence is reassuring me that nothing bad is happening (like a bunch of the keys getting ruined etc.)

While I completely understand not wanting to do that, I think that's part of good customer service.  And we are his customers after all.  He doesn't need to come on every day and tell us bad news, but a couple updates here and there are nice, if even so we know he didn't just run away with our money.

I trust him and all, given his history with the site, but I'm just saying.

I did get an update from him today, sounds like he's still working on the keys, and has a couple of questions for me on some of the designs. He says he's going to email me those shortly (expecting within 24 hours) and from there he'll probably be able to finish up the keys. Because I'm literally planning my living arrangements around it, I'm putting the conservative estimate on when they get to me at 3 weeks, depending on how fast his shipping goes. It was 2 weeks getting to him, but usually things coming from China get here faster. I dunno though.

I will keep you updated as I know more. I sent him all the images in the exact format he asked for, but it seems like its still been quite a bit of work to get them to look right on keys. Also he says "I'd been deadly busy with my work and even got no time for sleep these days." and when someone in an Asian country says that, you know they mean it. :/

I told him take his time and do it right, because I'm pretty sure we all care about quality over timeliness around here. :P

Agreed.

I dont like to have to wait a few months more than planned, but it's not something in our control. As long as everything turns out fine.

Also, out of curiosity, will there still be extra sets for sale?

I have ordered a significant amount of extras, as of right now there will be at least one extra of everything, but if there are any errors they come out of my reserves so that's not a guarantee.

If there was an update Ragnorock would have posted something, he is just as keen on these keys as we all are ;)

Unfortunately IMSTO seems to be really busy right now with all the cases and full sets he is producing right now and so we'll have to be patient...

It seems like perhaps you should stick with eBay and on-line stores instead of participating in group buys here.  Based on your posts in the Sindarin GB thread.  If you are letting these delays get to you that much, that'd be your solution.  GBs can take months, some have taken years.  It's already been explained to you what it takes to do a GB, so I won't be adding any more than you already know.

this is different imo; imsto isn't doing this voluntarily and he has a store, so i naturally expected something different. ragnorak is the one organizing everything, and i'm sure he feels similar. i'm just voicing my opinion.

I understand, but given your prior posts of similar nature, I'm just saying that group buys are not for the impatient.  These things happen regularly--delays that is.  VERY regularly.  Almost every group buy.  Not just from IMSTO.  So I'm sure this will get done eventually, but if this sort of indeterminate waiting is not for you, then group buys in general are not your cup of tea.

the syndarin set is the first group buy that i really wanted to participate in, and i wasn't used to the pace because i never did anything of that nature before. i checked the thread daily for a few months, and i naturally got more annoyed as months went by... and i ultimately just flamed once, and regretted it soon after. i'd appreciate it if you could be a little forgiving.

Well maybe you should consider what IMSTO has to do and just take that into account before just insulting the people working to bring you something of this sort.

I'm new to this, but I joined this group buy with the knowledge of there being possible delays. You should always expect delays, but hope there are none.

Just sit tight and we'll all get our keys as soon as possible.  :p

I've made it to some internet for the next few minutes and wanted to pop in and mention that I still haven't heard back from Imsto for him to elaborate on the things he mentioned he needed me to help him understand... As a few of you have mentioned he's surely got a million things on his plate and while the delays here have really strained me financially (I was counting on having the income from the leftover sales over a month ago so I've been forced to make do without.) I have no rustled jimmies over the delays because I know how much work Imsto has to do. Consider this for a moment. Most group buys on here have between 1-16 different legends to print. We're doing over 90 unique keys in this group buy... and that's quite a massive difference. I'll tell you right now I have no desire to go through this ever again, but its not because of Imsto. The main problem is the simple fact that I can't call him and figure out what's going on, and there is the language barrier.

I will be back home next week and my main priority is to get my blue on black MidKnight Samurai set's art finished and put it up for orders and discussion. The one nice thing about Signature Plastics group buys is that I can get them done smoothly and quickly, as most of you know, the usual "ZOMG experience" is nothing like this.

Dave out.

I'm back home and with it, glorious internets. I'm working on getting Imsto squared away with whatever he still needs and do what I can to get him to prioritize this and get it done. Obviously I'm getting impatient, (as many of you are as well) since the estimated time it was supposed to take was much less than the actual.

Minor update: Imsto has emailed me with the last things he needed to know and I just sent him the image he couldn't find amongst all the others that was supposedly missing. My guess is that means he's back to finishing this up and I should have more updates soon. Yay!
