Keyboard Estate Planning
« on: Wed, 19 December 2012, 00:01:25 »
Has anyone else here had the thoughts I am having, about what would become of your keyboard collection if you were to pass away unexpectedly? I have invested quite a bit now in collecting some nice keyboards and related accessories, but they are of limited value outside the realm of the keyboard enthusiast. I am thinking of naming one or more persons from Geekhack to inherit my collection, should I meet with an untimely demise. I would hate for my collection to end up in a landfill somewhere, when it could go to deserving individual(s).

What do you think about this idea?

I been playing Crusader Kings 2 for awhile. My first thought was, I need to plot an assassination ;o Hope I am first in line on the KMAC ;o

Jokes aside. May be some stick it notes on the boxes labeling rough worth of each board if you don't want to just give them away. I actually inherited some firearms through ex-gf's dad. He knew his daughter and wife are both anti's. So I took possession of the said firearms. You could name specific people in your will if you want people who would appreciate them to have them when you're gone. It doesn't have to be an official will or anything. You could just leave some instructions for your family so they know what to do with them.

Edit: I went for a cancer stick while thinking about this. You can always have your surviving family do a auction here, and have the proceeds given to a charity. I am thinking along that line for my firearms.

Edit2: Brain wasn't working when I wrote the post. 2nd fix for stuff lol.

That so weird....I was thinking about that last night when I was reading through some threads on this forum. Some of the guys here have so many expensive boards and I'm not sure most loved ones appreciate them as much as we do. Get out of my head lol! @.@

if you want to plan for family then leave instruction for auction on here with a percentage going to the forum to run it for them.

If you're not worried financially, then leave them to the forum for auction with proceeds supporting the site - maybe you'd even get an auction board named in your honour just for auctions.

We can all turn into the greedy magpies that always rock up when the inheritance word is whispered...

don't know bout you guys, but all my keyboards are going to be buried with me... Gotta make sure I'm ready for whatever computer work awaits me in hell...or heaven, but I highly doubt it.
