Filco in the US? Also opinions on vortex kbt oni
« on: Wed, 16 January 2013, 10:09:20 »
Hey.

I'm planning on buying a filco keyboard, ninja, tenkeyless, with mx brown switches. But I can't find them in stock anywhere in the US. Amazon doens't have them, only from other sellers and it's really expensive ($190+).

So, anyone here knows where I could find it? Also, I was looking at mechanicalkeyboards.com and they have the ducky tenkeyless with brown switches and the vortex one. Are those any good? In case I don't find the filco in time (I will send it to a friend of mine who is in the US so he can bring it to me) I'll get another one.

Hmm.. I just searched on Amazon and found a bunch.

Oh wait, nvm.  You wanted a Ninja Browns.  Just wait for KeyboardCo to restock on Amazon or look for one in Classifieds.

Keyboard co sends keyboards to amazon? If I buy directly from them, it's from the UK, right?

If I can't find it in time, I think I'll get one with blue switches. Do you think they'll have it in June or earlier?

They don't have the  brown (ninja).

Personnaly, I wanted a ninja. But the thing is that the only difference are the keycaps and since they are abs, you will probably want to change them sooner or later anyway.

The fact that you are on this forum is a good indicator that you will change your keycaps sooner more than later  :p

Your choice in the end, but I would not bother waiting for the ninja with browns. Just get a normal one with browns (or a camo edition like I did ;D).

TKL is awesome too :)

Yup, most of the Filcos you see on Amazon is from KeyboardCo (based in UK).  You could buy directly from them but the shipping's gonna be expensive.

Btw, they have a vendor forum setup here on GH.  Just PM Bruce or someone at KeyboardCo to see when they'll restock that Filco browns you wanted.

Good luck and here's the link to their vendor forum:

You can try keeping an eye on ncix.ca's stock. They're Canadian Filco resellers, but they do ship internationally. I bought my Filco Majestouch 2 with browns from them and it cost me around $18 in shipping.

It doesn't look like they have the ninja TKL in browns, but they do have the ninja in full size with browns. They tend to have a wider variety of Filcos available compared to Amazon. You could maybe email them and see when they plan to restock the Filco ninja TKL browns.

But amazon doesn't have either the ninja and the regular with browns and tenkeyless ):

EDIT: messed up with the quotes.

Owner of a filco tkl ninja majestouch-2 here, you may find luck on ebay, the only listing for the us ebay site is a tkl in blue switches right now.

Also a little unknown manufacturing "quirk" with this particular keyboard is that the arrow keys are ever so slightly off-centered from the casing, its not noticeable however because its just barely a mm offset but its there.

Ninja and Otaku are different keycaps. Ninja ones still have the printing, but it's in the front of the key. Otaku is completely blank. I don't mind blank keys myself, but my family uses the computer too and they need to look at the keys, so I can't get this one.

Oops my bad, confused the two.

If you don't mind waiting a little while, Cooler Master is supposed to have the QuickFire Stealth available in about a month. It's TKL with ninja caps.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm only buing the keyboard in June, so this coolermaster is an option. But now I'm in love with the KBT Oni. Tenkeyless, mx brown, pbt lasered keycaps... it's beautiful. Not ninja, but meh, I don't think lasered keys will fade out easily.
