Name your GHeros
« on: Mon, 21 January 2013, 18:10:39 »
Who are your GeekHack heros, or people you think make GH a better place?
Personally, I think DanGWang is one of mine. He is very lax and knows his stuff. He's always open to learning something new, and always willing to help you learn something new.

Another one of mine would be Glissant/Moonprismpwr (since they kinda come as a package deal). Glissant and his wife have been very gracious to our community via giveaways and sharing their art (well, Moonprismpwr's art, I don't think Glissant can draw IIRC). Again, Glissant is always out there to help you learn something. Plus, his wife is super supportive of him.

All in all, these people have really made learning about this hobby a great pleasure. Just thought I'd sweeten somebody's day. :)

Seeing as I can apparently call for your help in any thread and have you respond quickly, I'd say you?  :D

And DanGWanG's blog is really helpful for really good info and pictures.

Oh and i3oilermaker for being an awesome seller and running TK. I love that he runs those promotions and he's super easy to deal with when you order from him.

Currently MMB, he knows why  ;) And obviously CC, GH wouldn't be the same without him. Not only does CC draw in more people to the community, is always informative and responsive to questions, but such a thing as a small plastic skull is like a gateway drug for many into the wonderful world of mechanical keyboards.

But seriously, I have to honestly say that if it wasn't for MW, I wouldn't be a member here... but he isn't quite worthy of the GHero status...

Truth be told, iMav is the one true hero here... without him, this site wouldn't exist.

Quite a few people here are nice. Surprisingly less trolls than most of the forums I frequent.

WRXChris PMed me once to tell me how I should install a plugin to notify me when a page changes, so I'll know when a CC suddenly becomes available on ELKB. I originally believed that everyone wanted one for themselves, and won't do anything to jeopardise their chances of getting one, but I guess I was wrong:)!

jeroplane also PMed me to notify me on how a set of RGB with white legends(that I was looking for months ago) was available on ebay.

Most of the people that I've sold/bought keycaps from were very nice too.

Overall I think this is a great community

so this is a post where everyone stands around and gives each other high fives? or is it that kind of post where people sit around in a cir.. .........nm...wont go there

I have been a member here for a few months, i kind of thought there was no reason coming here because all this place does is make me buy more stuff!! its insane how much this place encourages spending. but what keeps me around here now is the DIY stuff and the people that aren't scaring me away. people like WhiteFireDragon, and TheProfosist, and MANY others--its actually unfair to single out 2 people out of dozens.
maybe someday ill have something to contribute, hopefully people will still be around to see it.

My non-exhaustive list in no particular order:

reaper -- for being the nicest guy on the forum, and for taking me out for kbbq
Input Nirvana -- for being a sincere and passionate dude
mkawa -- energy and passion to spare
aggiejy -- my group buy mentor, level-headed and community-minded
sth/JWaZ -- hella cool bay area bros
i3oilermaker -- the forum's best-run GBs
demik -- don't let his prickly exterior fool you, he's a softie
the new generation (off the top of my head): kmiller, SmallFry, The_Beast, Glissant, &cet. -- for being awesome and fun and community-minded

DanGWang for always answering any question I've ever had and for helping me get started here. I was so lost and intimidated when I first found gh, and I came to him purely out of coincidence and he really helped me out.

demik for being brutally honest. He's never afraid to speak his mind and I definitely admire him a lot for that. Not to mention he really knows his stuff. I don't think I've ever shared a single word with demik, but I'm always giddy to read one of his posts. Also, he likes ATHF which is a huge plus.

A quick list of people that I think make this place amazing is as follows:
jdcarpe, hashbaz, boost, DanGWang, mkawa, reaper, Halverson, WhiteFireDragon, i3oilermaker, bpiphany, SmallFry, TheProfosist, The_Beast, phetto, tjcaustin, demik, Computer-Lab in Basement.
There are plenty of other people that make this board great, but these are the ones that have stood out to me (and that I could remember right now lol).

Circle jerking or not, this is a great idea to give a little acknowledgment to the people that YOU think deserve it :).

^ for being a girl
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Heard my name in here a few times and I just want to thank everyone for their support and everlasting commitment to GH.  While I'll say my recent times on GH haven't been the best, it's because of people like you who can appreciate how much I love GH, that I keep supporting it day in and day out.  The culture on here, as mentioned previously, is far superior than other forums I frequent and there is a trust here (even amongst the noobs) that proper etiquette is demanded whether it's in sales, or in posts.

There are far too many people to name that I have met and dealt with in the past 2+ years, but the ones who contribute positive thinking, promote excellent service and attention to detail and provide constructive thinking will always be heroes in my book.  You should already know you are.  I praise those with strong wills and those who have the ability to resist becoming a troll or feeding a troll.

We have seen many heroes come and go here on GH, and their departures are always left a mystery or a martyr.  I've been debating myself which one it would be =)

I really love to look at the pictures DanGWanG posts here. Especially the 420 themed ones. Awesome boards and clacks combined with a nice theme. :) This is more then only a picture of a board. Looks more like a complete lifestyle he expresses in these pictures. Hard for me to explain that in english, hope you understand what I mean.

And of coures clickclack for doing art that's affordable and that I can enjoy every day while working on my computer.
