Bluetooth TKL keyboard
« on: Sat, 09 February 2013, 06:31:00 »
Hello Geekhack. I'm after a wireless mechanical keyboard to use with an Android tablet, and it must be TKL, or 60%. I've found the Xarmor one and KBT one, which seems almost ideal except that it is full size. Do any smaller keyboards exist, or is it possible to covert say a Filco or similar to be wireless?

I believe the new Matias board is Bluetooth and not full size.

That's pretty close to what I'm after, is there a standard windows layout one?

I believe that is all they offer right now. You could ask in the Matias vendor forum on here if they plan on releasing a windows one.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If you're using it with Android, the Mac model will work just fine.

Hey Matias, when we're up there this month. Will you have this around for us to play on? Wouldn't mind seeing how this works!

Sorry for OT question!

I'm also interested in this, but I'd prefer to mod my KBT Pure to be Bluetooth.

That seems almost ideal, only I'd rather a TKL one or smaller. The Mattias one it's also pretty good, except the Mac layout. I might end up going with it though.

Just buy a transmitter.. call it...

though.. No enthusiast would be caught dead with "wireless"..

Not until they make wireless led optical cheap enough.

I'm really curious about a transmitter, it means I can use any kb I want, with a detachable cord. How would power and such work?

I suppose there could be a transmitter with batteries in it. I'd be very interested in such a thing.

Some Electrical Engineer should make it and put up a group buy, or at least a DIY guide.
