Big problem, your diodes are in series but they need to be in parallell.

Yep.  To put that in layman's terms, the diode leads should connect "after" the diodes, not before.  If that makes sense.

is this handwiring no problem?

As long as the diodes look like these from matt3o, I don't see why the diodes can't be horizontal instead of vertical.
yup, finally i use matt3o style
but its already soldered :-X its no problem when in firmware?

What do you mean by this? It doesn't make much sense to me.

but its already soldered :-X its no problem when in firmware?

Better desolder it because it will cause problems.

It sure looks and sounds like it does. I would guess yes based on the youtube videos I found.

Entirely possible. DT wiki doesn't have an article on it so I can't say if you don't take off a keycap.

If you mean the length of the pin is shortened by half then it should still work, it just needs to be able to have contact to the pad. But this is assuming that the inside of the switch is still fine if the pin broke from being moved too violently.

Okay thanks. So as long as there is enough of the pin in the hole for the solder to reach it should be fine?

When I desoldered some ALPS switches  some of them were bent over, and after getting them out some broke where the bend was.

Yup, that's correct. You could try "extending" the leg by putting in a clipped diode leg or something similar. But I've had the exact same thing happen to me and it worked out fine.

If there is enough leg to reach into the hole I wouldn't worry about trying to solder an extension in.  The reason being when you go to solder the switch in the solder from the leg to the extension will probably let go.  I think my suggestion would probably be just fill the hole.

Yeah I was just going to just fill the hole.   I don't have any diodes.  What else would work for extending the pins?

Dye?  Although not as much as in that thread.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm assuming you're asking to de-yellow caps. Retro Brite or dye may work.

I have some old useless wallwart and telephone cables lying around.  If I cut and strip one of them would that work?

It's the same FCC ID as the Unikey KWD-601:

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Unikey_KWD-601

I don't know what happened there — either Chicony bought out Nan Tan's keyboard assets when Clevo acquired them, or Chicony cloned the Nan Tan KB-6251, as it's exactly the same (shape, feet, screw holes, everything) but just with Chicony's choice of switches and a Chicony controller, and registered to Unikey Electronics Co Ltd with the FCC instead of Nan Tan (or Chicony for that matter).

If you're having this much trouble finding something to use, I can just send you some hookup wire.

Or if you could post a link to something you recommend.   Thanks.

Knowing the exact name and gauge wire to get would help me more in case I have to get some in the future.

Or if you could post a link to something you recommend.   Thanks.

I think I've got 18 gauge or awg hookup wire. Sold at various stores that sell electronics, microcenter, Radio Shack, Home Depot, and Lowes.

that one is foam / cardboard. I have one (from Boost, I think there was a GB) that is only cardboard.

Thanks for that bytheway, I think I'll have to pick up one or two (depending on shipping) to better display the sets I'm not using.

how to apply file to teensy w/ soarer controller

Soarers/docs/index/tools something like that. What I am telling you is incomplete from my memory.

When you run Teensy.exe (from pjrc) it will ask you for a hex file. If you point it to soarers "atmega32" it should take care of the rest automatically.

This is all in Soarer's excellent documentation but you may have to dig around a bit.
Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

In my KBC Poker II from time to time (like once in a week of so) some keys become completely unresponsive for no apparent reason, and the only way to sove is to replug the keyboard. Or maybe I am just accidentally hitting some PN or similar key..?

It might just be a problem with the soldering and unplugging and re-plugging is just a coincidence

What you mean coincidence? If I unplug and re-plug keyboard, then it will work fine again. I am not really sure what you mean.

Like every single time that is what absolutely corrects it without a doubt? I was just saying that it might be a problem with the soldering and the keys might work for a little bit after unplugging it by coincidence. Though if that's what's fixing it, I'm not really sure. Does your hand ever accidentally rest on the FN key?

once the soarer's code is on the teensy, you add the file with the following
open a command line
make sure the file is the layout and options you want
navigate the the /tools directory (where scinfo, scdis scas and scwr are locatied)
run scas <filename.sc>
run scwr <filename>

If you are in windows you can just run scaswr <filename.sc>

I put my layout.sc file in the/tools directory of the soarer install to make things easy.

The above info is also in the HTML documentation, but it's a little hard to understand sometimes.

Ahh that's what you mean. I am 100% sure something is messed up and re-plugging resets keyboard or whatever it does and everything works again every single time. I use FN key a lot for everything, so yes I may hit it many times even accidentally. But I think maybe it's because I accidentally press PN key and turn on programming mode or something. I mean I don't really care, just want to make sure it's not a defective keyboard.

Mkawa's kit is krytox. So either option will be fine

Thanks Cap! Also last question:

Quote
This kit is made for switches to enhance your typing experience. There are 2 different mixes: Thick and Thin. Thick lube is made for tactile switches where as thin lube is made for linear switches.

In mkawa's kit sold at techkeys, it says thin is made for linear switches while thick is made for tactile, since thick is out of stock, is the Thin kit going to have a different effect on ergoclear or is it just the same thing?

They're different viscosities so they're not the same. MK.com and ctrl alt sells the kits too.

Are there any differences with a polycarb plate as opposed to a metal plate? Does one feel better than the other?

Thanks!

Yep, my only problem now is that both techkeys, mk.com, ctrlalt are out of stock on 'Thick' kits (for tactile switches)

The main difference would be in metal's weight (heavier) and less flex than polycarb

In terms of feel, are there any differences though? Thanks for your input!
