Where can I get those stabilizer inserts for cheap in Europe?

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/cherry-mx-keycap-stabilizer-insert-2pcs.html

WASD wants like 30$ for shipping which is ridiculous for such an item...

http://www.keyboardco.com/product/4-filco-white-stabilizers.asp

Or I'm more than happy to proxy some for you from wasdkeyboards.

Thank you for the link and your offer to proxy!

The pack from Keyboards CO is still expensive considering it's only 4 tiny pieces of plastic :(

I had hoped you can buy a 100 pack from Taobao for cheap. Does anybody know a vendor who has these in stock?

Hm...the original GB had plates which could accommodate all the stabilizer types. Dunno if the plate files were ever released. I'd PM jdcarpe and ask.

Are there any ortholinear fullsize keyboards?

EDIT: Not counting SPOS-style keyboards, looking for something with a more traditional height/aspect ratio instead of the massive grid.

Besides the SPOS ones you're referring to, I don't think so.

Has anyone else experienced a difference in tactility between Milky Housing (PCB 5Pin Mount) and Clear Housing (Plate 3 Pin Mount) Gateron Switches?
I built a keyboard yesterday using Milky Gateron Blues and noticed they felt a lot 'mushier' than my KC60, which has the Clear Gateron Blues.
(This is a difference in housing/body, not the actual stem type/color).

Is there a reason for this? The keycaps I'm using are the same between boards and both are using Costar stabilizers.

Also, if this issue is caused by the housing or stem, could I just swap out the tops and stems with a 'Clear' one?
I REALLY don't want to desolder everything and replace the entire switch  :-X...

You can swap the tops and stems out yes. The difference between the two could be differences in tolerances or materials. Never played with the exact switch combinations myself though.

Quite probably.
Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

I believe that's the clear acrylic Bird Electron wrist rest from PFU. I am unsure whether or not it's still for sale.

Why are the industrial Model M's so highly valued? Is it just because they are rare or do they have advantages over regular Model Ms?

Mainly due to rarity.  They're not common and they're much sexier looking that the standard Model M.

I see. I'd rather buy a regular model-m and paint it for 1/3 the cost.

Maybe I should start making bootleg industrial model m's.

Silitek OEM, probably the Silitek SK-8801 which is Rubber dome.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

What's the current recommendation for switch SIP sockets for LED installation? I found an old thread that suggested that there were multiple sizes, and that the larger ones prevented switches from closing well. Can someone link me to the specific ones I'd want to buy?

Cheers.

I'm having issues with my Blue Cube PS/2 to USB converter.

The converter is detected by my PC, and the keyboard works fine when directly plugged into the PS/2 port (which is not aligned properly so i try not to use it). The keyboard will work for a few moments and then stop working a few moments later.

does anybody know why? thanks

EDIT: forgot to mention It's an AT keyboard being converted to PS/2

So you have an AT to PS/2 adapter then a PS/2 to USB adapter? Could you be a little more clear? Your edit is confusing.

The keyboard is a Focus FK-2001. It uses a 5 pin AT cable, which I have a converter that converts it into PS/2. I then am plugging that PS/2 cable into the PS/2 to USB adapter.

So with just the AT to PS/2 converter it works fine. And with the PS/2 to USB adapter it doesn't work that well? I'd try another keyboard with that PS/2 to USB adapter but it just seems like your adapter is bad.

I tried it with another keyboard, it works better, but it's like there is some huge lag between keystrokes and they don't even register.

At normal typing speed "Tq quik bown f x jumpd oer the la dog"

so probably the converter like you said.

I just tried it again with my moms PC and her PS/2 keyboard, did not work.

I think it's something to do with the AT to PS/2 converter, maybe it doesn't play nice.

I'm not 100% sure what's the most up to date SIP socket information but I found this year old GB which placed an order for these SIP sockets on Mouser. I ran a Google search for mention or info in the last 3 months and it didn't yield any info.

I installed those exact SIPs in some Zealios a couple nights ago. I removed them from the black housing and they fit just fine. Using those same SIPs, I've had to fiddle getting them into Cherry and older Gateron switches, they can catch on the top housing if not aligned right.

Thanks for the info rpeterclark. I'm putting them in some Gaterons, and I'm not sure how to tell whether they're "old" or "new" Gaterons, but I'll report back regardless. Will probably be next weekend or so that I mod these switches.

Anyone know the difference between these two? Which one would you get?

http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/rapid-i/ vs http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfirerapidred/

From what I've read the QFR-I is just a more updated and durable version of the QRF-R. However, the QFR-R comes with only red switches, and a red backplate.

Are there any "preferred" keyboards or other input methods for interacting with a computer while wearing gloves? Specifically, something for typing crap while working on a car without having to constantly don and doff that work gloves would be pretty handy...

Maybe a KB with heavy switches so its harder to press other keys accidently with your gloves.

Hmmm, ok.  The fact that the QFR-R is red switch only isn't a problem, as that is the switch I prefer.  If the QFR-I is more durable though, then i'm probably going to get that one, esp since it's cheaper aswell.

You may try to wear gloves with no tips, if they are safe for your trade.

Many buckling springs boards have been found in autoshops.

Yeah, in fact the industrial versions were in partmade because the grime is harder to see on grey.

Sweet, I'll start checking out buckling-spring boards. My current daily-use board has Cherry greens, and it seems the main issue is the edges of the gloves pressing down adjacent keys unless I type very slowly, hunt-and-peck style. Fingertip-less gloves are a no-go, I'm not looking to compromise safety for convenience. Thanks for the advice!

All of a sudden I'm getting this really weird phenomenon with my duck viper...

Pressing certain keys like I will result in two I's being placed (unless you tap it very quickly) and pressing K gives me something like the following:

"   Qetuquo[   wetip   wetpqi   qweryweyi   q]iwerty   ]iqweryi   toryuiiyuo[   eier   wtyiqe   wrtyui   qetyri   qweyri   qweoryui   qwertyui   qop]iet"

What the hell is going on?

edit: ive tried resetting the firmware and im still getting this problem - also getting it on other keys such as ]}

The "=+" key is giving me not only double entries but is giving me crazy random stuff like "124`7\1608" now as well

That's a fascinating set of symptoms, has the board ever had water damage?

Are there any "preferred" keyboards or other input methods for interacting with a computer while wearing gloves? Specifically, something for typing crap while working on a car without having to constantly don and doff that work gloves would be pretty handy...

Many buckling springs boards have been found in autoshops.

And the essence of many autoshops has been found inside buckling spring keyboards found in autoshops.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Do you have anything between the PCB and the metal case?

The board came prebuilt so I'm not sure exactly

Haven't had a problem with it to date though

I took the board apart - turns out there was nothing separating the pcb from the aluminium case....

I put some sticky tape down on each of the standoffs and put it back together - working perfectly now

Thanks man
