so is there a confirmation on the technical support of max posts?

It'd be silly if we went to 100,000 even and they're like sorry, that's it...

I'd hate to see the face of that one guy with over 50,000 posts. :D

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

There's what 20,000 registered users. Each user would need to post 50 times. This is quite stupid and pointless but a good excuse for people to type on their multiple keyboards I guess. lol

20K registered users!

Holy Moly! That is mind-boggling. So, maybe 1% are actually "active" and possibly 5% pop up occasionally?

They didn't all migrate to Deskthority or something, did they?

Appears not, Rknize may be able to query accounts that make at least one post per month or something like that, but have posted in the last six. For example, itlnstln hasn't been active since November but still has over 13,000 posts.

Gladly my sweet prince.  On that plane we shall dance, and dance to the beat only a spammer would love.  Off-topic was a good home for a while, but who really knows?  Who really knows if off-topic can house all of the musings of hackers.  It seems people desire cohesive behavior, but I digress... the truth is when have we ever said anything worthy of such a wonderful place?

I got it in Sociology at the University of Washington up in Seattle.  Wasn't exactly a good fit for me in terms of the city and the theoretical approaches to sociology.  They're very rational choice, while I'm more of a symbolic interactionist and American pragmatist who acknowledges strategic interaction. I tend to follow the likes of Howard Becker, Erving Goffman, and John Dewey in how I approach the field.  They tend to follow in the vein of Gary Becker.  It created all kinds of interesting conflicts.

Anyways, the thesis is on the French Academie des Beaux-Arts and the Salon and why the Academie fell from it's position of power and authority in the art world and why the Salon failed.  I mainly examined organizational, environmental/ecological, and cultural factors that guided the Academie and Salon down their path.  Originally the thesis was ~65-70 double spaced pages, but they made me pare it down to 45.  In other words, it's incredibly short.  If that really sounds interesting, I can post it, but it seems kind of silly.  I really made my original comment as a joke.

Mmm sociology.

I love it.  I never really got to do the work I really loved to do while up in Seattle, but hope I can do some of it at another school down the line.  I really wanted to do some research into community effects of art and art and political movements and polling behavior.  The one I really wanted to do, but didn't have the statistical know how to do, is a network analysis of art auctions.  If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get to go to Poland and do research on the Solidarity movement.

Funny thing about economists these days is that many of them are trying to be sociologists. There's still a lot of money and goods based economics, but a lot of them are trying to do broader social inquiry with hybrid economic and sociological methods.

I'm on the fence about that, but completely understand it.  It's part of my interest in sociology to be completely honest as there are some fairly solid ties between the two.

Sounds like the place to be. Is there an application process?

You have to go into the keyboard forum.. Make unjust and biased remarks about Either Cherry MX or Topre.. and cicle jerk at least once with the Topre-Circle-Jerk members.

Then you'll be officially in my fan club.. and I will yell at you and overturn ever argument you can make, including but not limited to the sky is blue.

Now there hasn't been any Cherrymx jerk clubs I'm aware of, so I don't include that in the process.. but if that club "does" form.. then I will crusade against that as well.

I had llama jerky once. It was just about the most delicious thing ever.

Just don't bring up horse jerky, because that might spill tears...
