Keyboards w/ Reactive Lighting?
« on: Mon, 03 June 2013, 11:44:15 »
I just found out about reactive lighting and I MUST HAVE IT. What keyboards have this? I checked Google and only came up with Duckys and the Corsair K70.

As if it wasn't already bad form to look at the keyboard when typing, now also drawn to it by light!

It sounds cool for showing off though.

I can see reactive lighting on my Ducky Shine II when I turn up brightness.  Can't really see it at minimum brightness, but it's very apparent at medium-to-high brightness levels.

You don't need to look at the keyboard to see flashes of colored light popping up in your peripheral vision.  Unless your monitor is really high up, or your keyboard is right by your chest.  Just sayin' :)

I still think it would be cool (in a show off kinda way) if teh LED lights as you press the key, but stays lit for a second or so afterwards, instead of either flashing or just staying lit while the key is pressed down.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's a cool novelty function.  I kept mine on that setting for the first couple days of owning my new Ducky and then swapped to non-flashing full-time (lowest setting) full backlight.  It seemed cool, but in practice it was distracting.

It seems like a cool idea on the face of it, but in practice it would only serve as a distraction, at least for me.

Not really a big fan of LED's but I must admit, it's fun. I have a custom that lights up the entire board when any keys are pressed. It's pretty cool as ****.
