Hancock. I was on shrooms and it's the only move that has ever made me cry. I've watched it sober since and I don't understand... Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind made me wanna tear up but in the end I made it. I'll have to go back and watch it again to see if I'm still manly enough. Ahah

i think in this instance for some, like myself it was juxtaposition, i didn't picture carl and ellie (the old couple) but rather my wife and myself. about how we're just doing mundane **** like cleaning the house then going to picnics, and then fck...

and also that goddamn music...

My analysis..

-marriage

-biological defect

-no adoption, out of stubborness or overly self obsessive over the baby being genetically linked.

-no artificial insemination, same ^^

-poor investment plan, jar of coins, really? lose interest, AND suffer inflation

-house payments larger than they could afford

-poor career choice

-poor career path

-emotional distress leading to lowered immune system and general health

-bad insurance from poor career choice

-death

-their own fault.

I also cried during Tarzan, but I was 4 at the time and I have no idea why I was crying during it...

the fact that it suck?  :))

I was soooo bored...

and honstly it is incredibly difficult to believe Calisi could sway so many people given the unremarkable actress they chose.

She just doesn't look at all like QUEEN material...  Now Charlize Theron on the other hand.... obviously they couldn't afford Theoron for a show like this with the sets cost being so demanding

But, honestly ANYONE else...... would be more convincing...

And everytime Calisi delivers her "free at last" monologue, I do an eyeroll, completely unmoved, she's doesn't seem remotely confident...

LOL.

I've also greatly "analyzed" this emotional extension you speak of.

I accept that emotions are very much part of humanity and is part of our guidance and intuition.

HOWEVER, the world today is different than that of our ancestors. We must remain far more objective in modernity.

I don't repress or deny my emotions. I do however modulate it greatly. So much so that others like yourself may perceive there's a disconnect.

I am Legend... The dog scene. Yeah, you know the one. The first scene, where he's hunting dear in that Mustang with his dog, I KNEW the dog was gonna die at some point.. That mental preparation didn't help. At all.

Other hard hitting movies were AI, The Titanic, iRobot...

Books that have drawn tears were;
Cell by Stephen King
a few of the Harry Potter books
a few pages of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King

I know there are other heart-destroying stories, locked away in my brain somewhere... Oh well. The above will suffice for now.

Also tons of movies have made me cry.  I prefer to watch films alone, so I just let the emotions run wild.  I'll be there cheering for characters, too. A few recent tear jerkers for me: Safety Not Guaranteed, True Grit.

Also, Annie Hall is the only movie that made me cry from laughter.

I couldn't get into the HP books, because the magic system was broken, and there's no way it'd be used the way it was used in the book.

Titanic, idk, the only actual devastation was the loss of so many lives, But we weren't acquainted with the mob through the story, so that did not draw any emotions.

When Leo died it was like, yea that couldn't possibly be the only piece of floating debris.

I get that you could explain it as if the character was exhausted, entering hypothermia, and just couldn't possibly make it to something afloat, but that is bad story telling if it requires the audience to fill in THAT MUCH DETAIL.

sometimes i really want to grab a string and finally blind tp4 so he stops flooding all over the place
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Did you seriously never get past the point of emotional/mental development where you understand one of the fundamental parts of watching movies is willing suspension of disbelief? Also, what a poor example. Not that I'm going to defend Titanic, which is an atrocious film, but have you ever actually seen a ship sink? Why exactly have you gotten it into your head there'd be debris floating around all over the place - and capable of supporting the weight of a man at that?

I'm trying to think of a movie or two that made me cry.

I guess Hangover 1 and 2 made me cry. Don't think I'm going to watch three, after the second one.

I know it's not a movie but the end of Elfen Lied is as sad as anything.

I cry more often now since I had my son....here's my list:

What Dreams May Come
Zombieland (part where he talks about his son and when Bill Murray died ;))
The Road
...I'm sure there's more but I'm starting to... :'(
