1. Anyone pairing the HHKB Pro2 with a Logitech MX Master mouse?

2. Anyone prefer the HHKB Pro2 more than the Type S?

3. Anyone using Bluetooth with their HHKB Pro2? If so, how? Hasu's controller require a separate purchase for the battery and the Enebrick seem to lack power.

Merry Christmas everyone!

2. not me, but yes some people do.
but rather than listening to people their opinions, i would just google a ton of typing videos, and judge for yourself which sound you like more ^-^

can't help you with the other 2 questions, sorry. but merry christmas ;D

Alrighty! Few questions,

1. I am when I'm on PC. Right now using the HHKB with Magic Trackpad 2 on my Mac.

2. If I have to choose 1 I would probably go with Type-S. But since I can't choose, I have both and switch them around everytime I feel like it.

3. I installed hasu's BT module on both my black Pro 2 and Type-S. Super stable and no lag whatsoever when typing. I just use the 1000mAh and it's good enough for my use. I think it lasted around 8-9 hours before I need to charge it again.

Honestly, how much of an audible difference is there between Pro2 and Type-S and which key is especially prominent? I've listened to some video comparisons and it seems the Spacebar and L-Shift are the main culprits while the other keys are a tad softer compare to their Pro2 counterparts. I can surely acknowledge in an open-plan workspace, the Type-S is the keyboard to type on.

The difference is quite big IMO. Type-S sounds muffled while the normal one is super loud, the clacks is very prominent.

Yeah left shift and space do sound louder compared to other keys I have to agree.

I am getting more used to the lightness of the keys (I tend to use heavier switches). I like this board a lot. Still not gonna go crazy and sell all my mx boards though I think.
You will  :p

Agreed. Give it a bit more time. I went from pure MX to Topre and HHKB at work!

But when you decide to sell all of your MX boards, leave one for home  ;D

I dont own Type-S but i know someone who tried stock, silenced mod and type-s, he said to me the stock one having the worst typing feeling
I have both silenced mod and stock, i somehow agree, its day and night, silenced mod feels much more muffled, the provided sound is rather quieted.
The overal typing feeling is awesome

I uploaded a quick comparison between silenced mod vs stock

What silencing ring did you use? And does it make the same sound and feel of type s?

ironed landing pads from EK
I don't know about the type s feeling but from i ve watched on youtube, i prefer the silenced modded HHKB

Mine looks pretty similar to this although its modded in 55g

The only thing i dislike on my silenced mod, its keys feels like having little friction on some keys when you type softly and try to not bottom out

should I get type-s or regular? considering I am planing to buy the realforce 55g as well.

I mean do you need it to be quieter? that is the only reason to pay $80+ more dollars so if not then I wouldn't go for the type S

Have decided to get a white HHKB Pro2, have two questions.

1. How is the quality of the mini USB connector, do I need an angled mini USB adapter?

2. Where can I find/buy/receive two white Topre PBT spacebars?

A standalone drop by Massdrop doesn't seem likely.

Thank you guys and happy holidays!

It feels pretty much the same honestly. The upstroke is technically shorter now, but I can't feel the difference honestly.

Lubing it made a big difference in feel. Much smoother now, but not sloppy. I can't recommend it enough :thumb:

What makes hypersphere's rings the perfect combo with lubing the hhkb? I've lubed mine and love it so much more. What does adding the rings do?

Lubing it made it noticeably quieter, the silencing rings take care of the rest, as it makes what's left of the 'clack' on the upstroke much quieter, if not deeper than before. I personally love the sound now, and even running your hands over the keys it's noticeably quieter as well. This was the case with lubing it, however it also feels a bit more solid now.

Should have mentioned that, sorry!

I used Krytox 103, applied with a fine bush to the 2 corner rails. Only used a tiny amount per rail.

Until recently, when I installed Silencing Rings in a Topre-switch keyboard, I lubed only the stabilizers using a relatively thick grease such as EK MechLube2. However, I just completed installing Silencing Rings in a RF87UB55. This time, I lubed the stabilizers and all the switches using SuperLube 51010 oil. I applied the oil sparingly to just the rails in the switch housings using a small paintbrush. The result was the best yet -- only the "horse hooves clopping on clay" thocking sound of the keys remains -- no upstroke clack or stabilizer rattle. I have seen other posts reporting good results using Krytox 103 or Krytox blends. I have not yet tried Krytox, mainly because it is much more expensive than Superlube oil.

1. Pretty much like most other mini USB connectors - fine if you're gentle with it and/or don't plug/unplug it often.

2. Apart from Massdrop, classifieds?

One of most downside of HHKB it feels scratchy when you tend to not bottom-out, i really dislike this kind of feeling
Both happens, either in silenced mod or stock HHKB although keys rattle too much in stock version
Otherwise, its one of best if not the best type feeling i ever experienced, layout seems to divide users, the lack of dedicated arrows sucks, fn should able to be toggled
I am between love and hate this layout, fortunately, i got Hasu mod and i have sightly modified the layout to my own taste

You don't?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Is there a difference between the Type-S and the regular board with Hypersphere's rings? I think it's time I pick up a HHKB, but I plan putting in 55g domes either way, and maybe Novatouch sliders.

@ImAWildDeer: I have a HHKB Pro 2 Type-S and a standard HHKB Pro 2 with my Silencing Rings. I prefer the DIY silenced version -- it seems smoother and more consistent across the keyboard. I would also highly recommend lubing the stabilizers and slider rails on all the switches using Superlube 51010 oil applied sparingly with a small paintbrush. Some people recommend Krytox 103 oil for lubing swtiches. I have not tried Krytox; it is reported to be excellent, although it is also very expensive.

my kishsaver :p

jokes aside, the 55g was my daily driver for quite a while, but I find myself on the 45g more often nowadays as I usually have to type short novels for work. the 55g feels better, but bothers my hands after extended use.

Having tried both myself, I'd rather spend less money on the Silencing Rings than spend the extra ~$100+ for the Type-S version.

Boom roasted. I ended up buying a normal one and a set of rings. I will probably buy a Type-S to compare it to. While he may be just saying that he likes them better, since he sells them, it seems there are many fans of the Hypersphere rings around here.

Had mine for a couple days now and this thing is great. Selling my Novatouch now because it feels and sounds terrible in comparison.

I posted this in the media forum but figured I would share my video recordings of an HHKB unlubed and with lube. The difference is very noticeable. I'm so pleased with the results that I don't have a need for silencing rings.
