@derb2k2: Thanks for the kind words!

@Oxid: See below for a pic of my HHKB Pro 2 with blue caps. This is one of the variants that has off-white arrow keys and a red Esc. At other times, I have all the alphanumerics in blue and an added red Fn key.

(Attachment Link)

I don't feel comfortable promoting my own product, but I have to admit that I do like the sound and feel of my HHKB with my Silencing Rings and lube better than the sound and feel of my Type-S. My preference is also biased in favor of the black case.

That hurts me on the inside, it's so beautiful. Blank modifiers toooo, hnnnggg. That shade or hue of blue, oh jeez. And you should feel comfortable promoting it, it's a damned good product! I just went through some more videos, Derb2k2 was kind enough to send me one. That sounds exactly like I want it to! I must do this now, but I have to admit, I'm a little worried prying her apart, I've heard some horror stories.

that's the one Hyper. DAmn you!

Now I want to see it even more!

On a side note, I knew the silence mod rings thing were called Hypersphere or something of the sort, didn't realize I was actually talking to the person that made them! lol

I want to try the ring silencing. I've heard sound tests on youtube, and it tickles my fancy quite a bit.

ha yes it's Hyper. He made those rings for topre switch boards.

It might be a bit tedious when you first do it but it's fun taking apart a keyboard and modifying it. I recently put rings and lubed a realforce (which I sold) and the silencing was great.
The 1 thing that I hate when opening topre board is when you are finished modding it you need to assemble the conic springs and the rubber dome and that is really hard to do cause if you fail your board will have a really loud spring sound and that bothered the hell out of me and I have to open the board 1 more times to fix it

happened my first time lubing my HHKB. I was already screwing in the case screws. I learned to test every key after putting the PCB.  :D :D
yep really hate when this happens with my hhkb

I ve learned about it, every HHKB pings more or less
My best alignment: i got still few keys like 2/3 that ping like hell
Deal with it
Its a part of silencing mod and don't bother me anymore since you wont notice it when bottoming out the keys
And it will eventually wear out over time (not confirmed)

Pm me :)

Aight.

 :llama:
Nah I think I just go with custom cause customs are rare bro and hhkb can be bought anytime

The high from having something rare or exclusive wears off pretty quickly. It does for me, at least.

After using this keyboard for ~1 month, it's now my favorite keyboard to type on. With the 3rd and 5th dip switches on, the layout is absolutely perfect. Also, I've finally gotten used to using the function layer for the FN and Arrow keys. Super satisfied with my purchase!  :D

Welcome to the club! The fn layer is amazing, and all of my programmable boards have a (close to) HHKB layout for the fn layer. The arrow keys and control are a must for me though, I hate having a bottom left control.

Yeah, I don't think I could ever go back to a standard layout after using this keyboard. Even if I stop using this one, I think I'll have to map the keys on all my other keyboards to match the HHKB layout. It's too good.

I've had the HHKB for ~2 or 3 weeks now, maybe a little less. I can't go back to MX. Built a B.Face with 65g Zealios before the HHKB arrived, which I thought I loved, but after typing on this beauty I don't know anything anymore. I never realized it before now, but the HHKB's placement of backspace is the best thing ever.

I want to buy a Type-S now though, I think the B.Face will be used to fund my Type-S :(

agreed the placement of the backspace key is the best thing ever. I am in the same boat as you I have a hard time going back to MX switches now. I did just order a Ergo dox with Zealios switches hoping that I will like and its not a waste of money.

Maybe check eBay in your country?  Or have a look in classifieds.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Quite possibly people who bought them, did not like them, and tried to recoup their costs.

Got the HHKB2 in white a week ago - all I can say is wow!. I think Topre is up there with Gateron clears for my favorite switch. All I wish is that the domes were 30g - has anyone modded this yet? I'm absolutely in love with the layout (though the backspace placement makes using other keyboards quite a challenge). Caps feel amazing as well.

Many people have modded their HHKBs with 55g domes and there's nothing stopping you from doing it with 30g domes as long as you have a donor board (or domes that have already been harvested)

Reason you don't see it is that the 30g domes aren't anywhere near as popular as the 45g and 55g variety

Am I the only one here who loves the stock HHKB without mods? I love the sound and feel as is and after listening to some vids of lubed and silenced HHKBs, I'm not a fan of how soft they sound. Sounds too airy. Anybody else out there feel the same way or did I just make myself really unpopular?

I'm not a big fan of HHKB mods.  IMO, the 55g mod feels mushy and loses some crispness, and aside from swapping keycaps there's really nothing that must be done anyway.  I haven't tried any silencing mods myself because the HHKB isn't loud.  :P

i'm using my hhkb less and less, primarily because of that loud left shift. it annoys me so much :(

as for mods or not, i do like the sound of stock, especially stock 55g realforce. but i mostly use open headphones, and that clacky sound just pierces through the music :/
i made the choice to keep my RF and HHKB silenced so that i have two relatively quiet keyboards that don't interfere with my sound.
but yeah, the stabilized keys really stand out, on the RF as well.
hopefully putting some thick lube on the stabilizers will reduce the sound by a bunch..

It has never bothered me, and certainly nowhere near the point of wanting to harvest domes from another keyboard.  ;)

Coming from MX Blues, the stock HHKB is like a whisper! I could see it maybe being an issue with open headphones though. I might get adventurous with some lube down the road when it requires it from general use. I am curious how lube would change the typing feel all that much though. Topre is already much smoother than MX or even Gateron will ever be.

An HHKB with dental bands feels and sounds like literal rhinoceros testicles. I haven't tried Hypersphere's rings, silenced RF sliders, or a regular HHKB Type-S, so I can't totally write off silencing yet.

My HHKB in unmodded, apart from a few artisans and a PBT space bar.

I somehow want a new black HHKB and gonna leave it untouched after reading the past few comments. Keep that one to use at home in my own room, and use the 55g purple slider-ed one when travelling and rooming with the baby so I don't wake anyone up when I type :D
Please feed my addiction.

Has anyone here used Hasu's controller with a nordic layout? I messaged him, and he didn't think it'd be practical/possible to map some of the characters (Æ,Ø,Å etc.) :(

Glad I'm not the only one. I was beginning to feel lonely! I jumped in on the latest HotKeys blanks and can't wait for them to come. Also have an orange cable from Mimic on the way. This black HKKB is crying out for some color.

Those keys on the upper right look great. Speaking of HotKeys?
How does one become so interested in a thing like keyboards? When you realize you use a keyboard more than any other tool in your life.

I'll be honest i thought that the way people were talking about this keyboard made it annoying and  I thought that poeple are just overrating it but man. I finally got my hands on these and they are in love.  I don't know why maybe it's  topre but im way more accurate with this and my realforce than I am with my mx blues. This feels so buttery smooth it feels like im cutting through butter as i type. I'm officially a convert
