Just got a pixel fone, man guys, these things are kinda invasive. It's digging into your mind and trying to connect you to the matrix.

Was having trouble with the unlock button, and after a bit, it sends you an alert, having trouble with the fingerprint scanner, try adding your face for face unlock.

This thing is measuring and monitoring everything.

I didn't have to put my fingerprint or face id on my pixel, Just a passcode. I generally don't put those things on them, but that's superstition on my part, since both fingerprint and face id are both stored locally on the device from what I know, so they can't access that data remotely.

Anker 733 battery bank, so if you have too much load on this thing, it stops charging itself because of overheating, as the ac-dc is bolted right next to the battery. Normally that heat would be in a separate adapter.

So, it's supposed to save you a cable, but in reality, it's not dual use. It can't perform all of its functions all-at-once, so WHY have this device at all? If you just get a regular gan-adapter and a separate battery bank, they can both run at full cap.

Why didn't they just add a heatsink/ fan to this.

Chat GPT sky voice,  it only sounds a tiny bit like scar jo.
You're bothered by that detail? I am bothered by almost everything there is about OpenAI.

ScarJo had been approached by OpenAI to do the voice for them. She had declined. Two days before the event, they asked again: indicating that they had the model ready.
Friends of ScarJo who know here voice better than anyone else said Sky sounded distinctly like her.
OpenAI did it. There is no question about it.

It's CEO has allegedly sexually abused his younger sister, force-fed her Zoloft and withheld her money for medical treatment.
There are numerous other signs and accounts of him being a narcissistic psychopath. Another controversy he is involved in is the cryptocurrency WorldCoin.

The AI that they want to build would require so vast resources that it would practically require its own power plants, which is utterly irresponsible in this time of climate change.

Massive copyright infringement and plagiarism. Training on the open Internet, requiring people top "opt out", despite regulations in many countries requiring companies to instead "opt in". Except when they don't care, and knowingly use content from pirate sites to train on, including illegal copies of e-books. (the "Books2" dataset)

OpenAI has been infiltrating bodies for "AI safety". They are trying to push things through before people in charge of legislation has got wind about what it is really about. Intentionally muddle the concepts of copyrights and plagiarism: (The way OpenAI works is not "fair use". Also, "fair use" applies only to copyright, not to plagiarism, and is not even a concept in many countries)

The team responsble for AI safety ("alignment") at OpenAI resigned a few days ago in protest against the board not giving them the ability to do their job.

BTW. I will be joining the PauseAI protest at Hötorget in Stockholm today at 17:00.

Did not know about the ceo wtf (except he is a ceo of a large company, I would never be surprised if they turn out to be a psychopath lol)

The copyright infringement is so obviously not fair use that it's made me realise that chatgpt and midjourney and these other platforms probably won't exist in the near future because of how many lawsuits have and will be coming their way.

All high lvl bosses are psychopaths, or become one over time.

Mid bosses are a bit better, but they've got the bug for sure.

I don't think personality failures play much of a role in how we should evaluate our next steps in AI. Human beings can not rule- itself, we're at death's door with regards to the climate implosion.  AI, might have a shot at preserving our legacy.

Anyway, electricity isn't the biggest concern right now, if we don't deal with animal agriculture, there is no technology viable in the next 50 years to meaningfully remove CO2 / Methane.

Even if all industrial output stopped, which would put us back into the stone age, we would still hit 2.0-2.5C, that much is baked in.

Too rapid in fossil fuel reduction has also produced intensive short term warming swings (heatwaves), as it reduces the aerosol soot layer which is masking approximately 0.2C worth of existing warming.

personality failures play much of a role in how we should evaluate our next steps in AI.
Human beings can not rule- itself

I agree with the first statement but not the second.

I submit that "personality" is actually how we DO rule or control ourselves, what makes a person or a society who or what he or it is. Otherwise we would basically be "animals" (and yes, I do think that animals have rudimentary personalities of their own) .... So what does this make of contemporary American society? I would say schizophrenic, that is, divided into irreconcilably opposing perspectives.

By definition I am not sure that I would accept that AI can have "personality" - at least not that which was (at least) based on whatever the programmer put in there to begin with. So, does that mean that I think of AI as more similar to an animal than a person? Yes, probably.

Go up the chain of command, notice it's all human beings. no one human being can control those below him without some degree / form of violence.

It can be physical violence, financial violence, emotional violence.

The evolutionary purpose to violence is to OFFSET the potential productivity loss from low agreement/ low processing bandwidth.

That is why it follows us around,  it's a necessary process in the concept of society.

Tp4 is aware there is a better way, but it might not be time efficient enough.

better .... efficient

There is no doubt that the most efficient form of governance is complete totalitarianism.

Discussion and persuasion require considerable time, and invariably muddy the results.

My work implementing MFA for pretty much every system we use. We recently popped in major upgrade for an old system and enabled SSO with our key IM system used by the entire business and what ends happening?

We're forced to enable a separate MFA to sign in.... such a waste of time. It's also getting to a point where they are asking for biometrics to be enabled on a phone before it even allows that MFA app to be used - its like 4x layers of "identity security" just so they can push the risk of stuff going wrong back on the individual worker.

Good lord.

Fingerprint readers are not even reliable on a large portion of phones out there.
It has never worked reliably on mine, so I have it disabled.

Add to that how easy it is to make a reproduction of a finger good enough to fool the reader in a phone.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Trying to lose weight with Fitness Boxing on the Switch, but the motion detection on the Joycon sucks.
What bums me out is the Joycon is by far the worst designed and weakest part of the Switch, and it is the one thing that Nintendo is not changing for the Switch 2.
At the very least update the internals to adress the issues people have been complaining about since the launch of the console, or lower the absurd price knowing that they inherently have issues that will cause them to fail after some duration. But no, Nintendo ignores the issue, does nothing to fix or address it, and keeps the same manufacturing and parts for it's next console just to save a few bucks on something that is already radically overpriced compared to competitors.
So sick of Nintendo's bull****

F'n Capitalism.

So, here's the rubb, New Zealand wants to do-a-climate. But they're capitalists, so, climate has to be profitable.

They decide the trade is farmland from cow-sheep-etc >into< tree farms. They got "investors", IKEA, to come in buy up the market for trees, and laddy daa, CARBON CREDITS.

But then they've planted only monocrop fast growing pine destined TO BE CUT DOWN. The plantation is what forestry experts call GREEN DESERTS.   Because there is no diversity in Species and Sizes of trees, the small animals/insects, a natural biome DOES NOT recur. This results in a "green" place that is only a Tiny Fraction of the Sequestration capacity per acre of land relative to the benchmark of an Old-Growth forest, you can youtube the visual difference.

The net result is, 1 step forward, 2 steps back, all because the Accounting-system, Capitalism, only operates in 1 direction and largely ignores externalities.

We are epic screws,  Tp4 is surrounded by rich guys, most of them believe in climate change, no one can change their way of life, because their way of life requires continuous cash flows, there isn't a single front or back end element which can change for the better,  any large change would result in a train wreck for the existing system.

If the current system can't change, and we're massively indebted to the Natural Earth Biome, then there is only a Singular outcome to this, a massive industrial Heart Attack.

Most rich guys believe or ease their mind on the fact that squirreling away cash in multiple currencies world wide will save THEM.  They ignore the fact that an endangered world would probably reject fiat, and fall back to bartering, mostly for food.

As if the airlines are going to run when we're exchanging wheelbarrows of corn with the neighbors.

way of life requires continuous cash flows

For at least a couple of centuries, all of the economic models are based on expansion and growth.

Growth of the population of consumers and the goods and services that they consume, along with the increase in capital to make the exchanges possible.

Besides the fact that there is far too much of "everything" already, people worldwide are growing rapidly more greedy and gluttonous.

gluttonous.

The population is approximately 40% obese by statistics of BMI. Yet this metric can not differentiate muscle, bone, fat.

Under an Italian study of 4800 individuals, 40-80 years old, using full body scan, which can differentiate fat from muscle and bone.  Approximately 70% were found to be obese.

We are way beyond gluttony.

Animal agriculture must end immediately. What exactly are we waiting for, 100/100 ?

This is detrimental to all people and all markets.

Just walked into a restaurant across from the hotel. It says Italian family restaurant on the right.

Then you walk in, it's got a big afghanistan flag, and halal + arabic all over the place. Weird right?

Then Tp4 orders the vegan rice /eggplant,spinach,chickpea platter.

After ordering, Tp4 looks at the owner, and asks, is this an afghanistani restaurant, he's like heck yea it is,  then Tp4 took a long pause, and the owner sensed Tp4 was holding back a question, so he opened with, Those mother fvn' isra*** mother fvkr's, they're lying, they're conmitting gen0(ide and this mother fn'murica is sponsoring them. fff word fffword fword fword..

Then the son runs out from the back of the restaurant and tries to calm the owner down, sorry sorry sorry. owner throws up his hands, and walks to the back.

The food was great,  No idea what Tp4 just ate, but it taste gud', basically a rice+ 3 types of gravy kinda thing.

For reference, tp4 wasn't going to say anything about isra,  only wanted to know whaddup with the italian family restaurant on the side of the building.

Tp4's in a "red" area.  Actual conversation overhurd by P4 this morning.

Guy 1: You work in oil and gas, how's that going, must be sh** under Biden.

Guy 2: Actually, oil and gas is booming because of all the new industries ramping up.

Wife of first guy, you know in california they have mandatory power shutdowns because of all the renewables not working right. They have to beg the republican states to send power to them.

Everyone here over the age of 30 look diabetic.

This one really big guy clearly on the Keto, Whole plate of breakfast sausages, Whole plate of eggs. He's sweating, almost weezing after every bite, it's only 70 degrees. He looks over at Tp4's plate, 4 slices of white bread, and 2 cups of oatmeal.

His remark, you better not eat like that or you'll end up like me, it's all the damn carbs the democrats are paid to push. They're ruining the american healthcare system.

Tp4 answers: Oh yea, I heard about that, I plan on doing keto soon, I am just a little busy right now.

Big guy, Amen brother, meat is key to longevity and health, /heavy breathing,  eats the whole plate of eggs, walks over for another plate.

Well, this is kinda depressing.

Rich people generally don't have nice TVs.  The obvious explanation is, they've got such a great life, there's no need for TV.

In that context, Tp4's oled is just a fancy crack pipe of sorts.

Prolly overthinking this. But you see maybe a full theater room in the expensive houses, but very few dedicated TV spaces.

You don't need a TV when you have a home theater.

Most of what you hear about "the rich" is total B.S and misdirection, they don't want you to know how they really live.

You don't need a TV when you have a home theater.

Most of what you hear about "the rich" is total B.S and misdirection, they don't want you to know how they really live.

Tp4 knows how they live, they don't have nice TVs.  It's mostly liquor + you-know-what.

The theaters are also dusty and mostly not-updated.

How do you know that?

It's all status symbols. They want the best of the best even if they don't care about it/use it. Of course we need to add on the 400k home theater package to our dream home. It will look great during tours and in photos. Plus think of the resale value.

It's also because some of those wealthy people genuinely work all the time and their thing is movies and when they get to watch that 1 movie a week, it is going to be a cinematic experience. I used to hang around some rich, but not wealthy folks in my audio club. A lot of the members were specialist doctors or business owners who dumped 10's of thousands into a stereo they rarely used because they were so busy. But then when questioned on why invest in something you can't use they all had similar responses to "When I find the time, I want it to be the best experience it can be because of how seldom I get to sit down and listen to music".

With the current state of theaters I don't blame anyone wanting to watch movies at home
I'd be willing to bet that within the next 4-6 years it will get to the point where each state only has a couple smaller privately-run movie theaters still operating, if any at all. Big chain theaters will be gone.

Personally I always have a great experience when I go 2-3x a year, but I live next to a luxury theater that is nearly always empty since I generally only go for discount matinee showings in the middle of the day.

Yeah big chains are not doing well. I think it's the lack of big blockbusters that people are willing to see and the prices being crazy cause shareholders want to extract as much profit as possible. I'd also like to see more cinemas air classic films, there is a bunch of theaters that do this and they are great ones.

Bringing back classic movies is a great idea! Just have one dedicated room per theater that shows some older blockbuster and change it up every month.
I would love to see T2, Jurassic Park, and Back To The Future in a theater, and I bet a lot of other people would too.

Argh - my wife just received the email from ticketek saying her details have been "leaked" - absolutely useless businesses here in Aus, couldn't even spell Cyber Security, let alone be trusted with the mountains of data they ask for - all to shove a damn ad in our faces about their latest piece of plastic garbage.

Yeah those would be cool. I saw dog day afternoon and no country for old men in a cinema as a rerun and they were so tense, the cinema experience really added to it and would highly recommend.

ticketek is awful, we have the same problem as the US where there is a monopoly in the industry so we have to put up with the awful service while Ticketek continues to be bad and cut costs to somehow get even more money. I hate it a lot as well, sorry that your wife's data got leaked, it always sucked when that happens.

This is the problem across the board in nearly every aspect of modern society.

It is the direct result of short-term thinking as opposed to long-term planning.
"It's 110, but it doesn't feel it to me, right. If anybody goes down. Everybody was so worried yesterday about you and they never mentioned me. I'm up here sweating like a dog. They don’t think about me. This is hard work.
Do you feel the breeze? I don't want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don't care about you. I just want your vote. I don't care."

Tp4 has thought about this for a long time, but humans Are-only-so-smart.

Even the emperor, he's still human, just maintaining hierarchy takes up the majority of a person's processing power.

The people below an emperor has even more to worry about, on-top of hierarchy they also need to worry about cashflow.

This is why Tp4 is 99.999% certain that major catastrophe is LOCKED IN. It's already happening in most places around the world. The denial is strong.

Tp4 doubts humanity will survive, but fingers crossed.

Eating veggie is the only currently feasible way to mitigate climate change.

2 things are bothering me today:

First is the price of coffee these days. It is not beyond reproach to see a bag of coffee for around $16-20 now. I can't drink preground or garbage because it tastes terrible to me, and even just the store brand unground is $12.99, and another $2-7 for something from a local roaster. I remember even Starbucks used to be $5.99 a bag at the grocery store.

The second thing is now the busses in the Seattle area have all bolted their windows shut. Every window on every bus is now permanently closed. No fresh air, no opening it up for that smelly guy in front of you. Sweating balls on a 90 degree day? Too bad, the public apparently cannot be trusted with windows. Imagine if they did this **** during COVID times?

Is this because of a lack of funding, so they can't risk the windows getting damaged? that's really strange.

Realistically, you'd probably want the buses to be running filtered air, rather than breathing in crowded city road dust and car exhaust fumes.

The PM 2.5 concentration on a city street can be equivalent to smoking a whole pack of cigarettes every couple of hours.

Omg, cousin does a dumb thing, someone dared him to drink the air conditioner water, he does it, gets sick, now family blames Tp4 because technically speaking, he works under Tp4, thereby through Tp4's bad influence, lack of fraternal guidance has resulted in the cousin's weakness in solemnity and worldliness.

Side-bar, Tp4 will use this great opportunity to escape the Shanghai plans.
