I too am bothered that the bothered thread is locked. WTF!

If you think leaves are bad, you should have pine trees in your backyard. Those bastards aren't only impossible to clean up, they make growing grass impossible!  >:D

As for the porcupine, I have no help to offer. But, that would be some pretty serious butt hurt.

It wasn't me! Blame the mods. Last time I tried to lock it they wouldn't let me, now they locked it instead. :o

P.S. inanis did you ever get your car situation sorted out?

If figured it was the mods. Things were getting crazy. Probably would have been easier to just figure out who was causing the trouble, but it was probably the quickest way to get around the issue for the moment.

My car is now sitting at a body shop waiting to get re-estimated. The body shop guy says the quote by the insurance company should have been at least doubled. He needs to get it into his shop to get an exact (or closer to exact) estimate. He said the roof will likely need to be replaced because the metal has waves in it from the impact. I reiterated again that I do not want the car. I want it to be totaled, but it is all a numbers game now.

So, the accident was on October 15th, today is the 28th. My car STILL hasn't been appraised, and I still don't know if it is officially totaled or not. To make matters even worse, I have no Personal Injury Protection on my insurance, so all of the medical bills need to be covered through my health insurance and therefore can't be reimbursed, even if I were to sue. That includes lost wages. My husband was out of work for over a week, and he won't get paid for that time.

The icing on the cake is that we have 30 days for a car rental through the insurance company, and we are on day 15 as of tomorrow. They called us yesterday to say that they won't cover beyond that. If the car does get fixed, it will take at least 2 months to do so. And, to be clear, this accident was 100% the other parties fault. So basically...I feel totally screwed right now in just about every imaginable way.  :(

I need the bothered thread back!

Edited for clarity. I was all riled up.

Didn't the other driver not have insurance? Nothing to go after if you did sue?

Those bastards need to cover your rental until your car is fixed or you get paid for totaled. They are the ones dragging ass about the appraisal.

The owner of the car was insured but the driver was not. I got a copy of the police report and it said that she only had a learners permit. I could sue but any money that I want would go back to my health insurance and not to me which is really frustrating. basically in this situation no matter what I do I feel like I lose.

I did tell my car insurance agency that I would get a lawyer if they didn't continue to cover the rental because this is not my fault. we'll see how that goes.

I don´t get murican insurance...

Me either.  :'(

I wondered about that.

We need a thread like that for people to let off steam every now and again.

Plus it's good for a laugh sometimes, and we need that around here.

Inanis, I can't believe you are still dealing with that car issue.  Between your story and my buddies recent totaling of his work car I now realize that you basically get shafted when someone wrecks into your car.  I am just used to having **** cars so when they get hit its awesome because I don't fix them and just pocket the money.

People.

This has got to stop.

Stop accusing people of having duplicate accounts without knowing the facts.

Stop attacking each other for not reason.

If you don't like someone for personal reasons, don't talk to them.  If they are breaking the rules, report them.  If you're about to post just to stir up drama, take a few minutes and think about it - and then don't do it.

Let's all get along, mmkay?

I'm bothered that the what's bothering you thread became a circlejerk about people being bothered by people in the what's bothering you thread and that I couldn't have any bothers because modzis locked the thread.

...but really, I was okay with it all and I just sat back with a bag of unpopped popcorn and light the fire in the thread cook it for me.

why do people need to fill many carbon copies?..
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I really can't stand group mentalities, but I think people find comfort in familiarity and being part of a larger group, in the sense of unity that it brings. I see carbon copies all over the place of people that seem so insipid and uninspired, simply emulating what they see instead of being creative and freethinking. It always drives me up the walls when I put too much thought into it.

I think it's really easy to think this about people, just looking at them. And don't get me wrong there are a TON of people in the world living boring, cookie-cutter lives.

However once you start talking to people you often find out crazy stuff. This happens to me quite often!  For example, I was once shooting the **** with a boring-looking dude at a social function of my in-laws. They live in a golf-centered retirement community. Ugh. After a while I found out he was retired CIA. Then we had a 5 minute convo in my broken/his fluent Russian. He had some amazing stories, and incredible insight into current affairs. But he looked like some retired cardboard cutout, just biding time till he starts pushing up daisies. Boy was I wrong.

I meet interesting people with interesting lives all the time. I think I have a somewhat less-boring-than-average life, and I definitely look like one of the folks you might be describing in your post. 🏻

Stuff like this is why I always make a point to seek out *people* in my travels rather than buildings. Don't get me wrong, I love the history that goes with them, but I find people and their stories to be far more interesting.

Important thread. People love it for getting to vent and find comfort with others who share their misery or have advice.

And misery loves company

Haha, I suppose I might have come off a bit more cynical than I meant to! No, you are definitely right. Everyone has their own stories to tell. It's not right to write people off as being one way or another just at a glance. I have definitely met some interesting people through traveling to other states and cities. I might just be projecting the blandness I'm feeling right now. Haha.

Yeah, usually a spy or agent for some federal task force or something. I remember the "spooks" from the old Syphon Filter games on the Playstation. Great series. Shame it kind of just fizzled out.

I'm shy
I hate being shy. That coupled with my stuttering, and people are gone before I finally have a chance to answer their question.
