The internal struggle as I consider what keyboard items are "necessary" and what are superfluous - and the resulting purge of my collection - is bothering me...  :|

dat feeling after you let something go because you think it's excessive at that time, only to realize later that you actually found enjoyment in it.

It pains me how terrible Fiction Plane's new album is...  :(  They were one of my favorite bands for the longest time (and their older stuff is still amazing), but this new one just sounds like a lazy Coldplay album...  -_-

On the plus side, MuteMath's new album is pretty good.  :thumb:  :D

Sometimes I go on my computer just to have an excuse to use my keyboard, when there's nothing for me to do on my computer. So then I feel like I just wasted an hour or two.  :(

£500?? How did you manage that?

TFW you want to purge your collection to afford bigger, better things, but you have nothing that anyone will actually want :(

On a related note: I'm eventually going to have two Octagons, one v1 ( ;)) and one v2, and that might feel a little redundant, but in the end, both would be built from personal concepts that make them feel unique to me. I've poured a lot into my v1, but... I'm not sure if things are going to feel redundant or frustrating, haha. I don't think I really want to sell a board I've put so much into, but I dunno.

If I keep it, I'll have two Octagons but only one Lightpad, but both Octagons will have different keysets (they're both built around ideal keysets, so no rotation there). I even have a pair of custom Jukebox-themed carrying cases for my Light Pad and Octagon. I feel like I'll at least need ANOTHER Lightpad to keep things even.

#firstworldkeyboardproblems

I say this knowing people have bought like 2-4 Orion v2 TKLs in one go, lol.

I need shoulder pads like this to stop people falling asleep on my shoulder on the train.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

How far away is that though? You could always park it outside mine... There's always loads of parking in the off road car park. I hear that, I couldn't do without one at all

Just because others have, doesn't make it right, but I do agree that saying gh is a silly place isn't a big deal, I just think saying it in a thread bashing gh in general was kinda uncool. I would think businesses would want to stay out of petty politics because it might hurt their business. (but those are just my thoughts).

Well that is a quote from a vendor, so I was talking about the vendor who said it, not geekhack in anyway.

I'm bothered by you *****es getting bothered by that.

I don't think we are hurt, we just don't feel it is very professional as a vendor. Good thing we are all allowed our own opinions!  ;)

dude, other "vendors" and "groups" have been a lot more unprofessional than what UKKeycaps said. but, he's new and doesnt have a cult following so he gets **** on and called unprofessional over such a small comment.

Just because others have, doesn't make it right, but I do agree that saying gh is a silly place isn't a big deal, I just think saying it in a thread bashing gh in general was kinda uncool. I would think businesses would want to stay out of petty politics because it might hurt their business. (but those are just my thoughts).

"Geekhack is a silly place."

I'm bothered by you *****es getting bothered by that.

Geekhack as a vendor itself, or the vendors operating by way of Geekhack? ...Because Geekhack itself isn't a vendor..what?

Well that is a quote from a vendor, so I was talking about the vendor who said it, not geekhack in anyway.

i know that. i just find it funny how GH loves to pick and choose what they get butt hurt over.

GH has like ****ing selective hearing. OP and users on reddit complain over the service of a vendor. GH chooses to ignore the complaints and focuses on another vendor for merely stating GH "is silly." Furthermore, OP WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT GH HE WAS COMPLAINING OVER CTRL ALT. Jesus christ.

We wouldn't want you to actually focus on the problem.

Favoritism shown toward certain vendors while criticism is shown to others over the same sort of behavior or even more meager things is... pretty ****ty conduct imo.

Maybe that's why it was noteworthy that the vendor even made a comment about geekhack at all?  ;)

so, like what she said, gh loves to pick and choose.

Someone hiding behind an alt account went on Reddit and posted some points about CTRL ALT that many people feel, but few are brave enough to voice. Then UKKeycaps explained the fact that GH ignores this issue by saying "Geekhack is a silly place". People did not appreciate that a vendor not involved with the situation called his customer base "silly". No one seems to be talking about what the actual OP of that thread was talking about. Here is the original Thread on Reddit

Could have all been said better? Sure. But all this about calling GH silly seems like overkill. I dunno, maybe it was the three hours I've spent wrestling with a Christmas tree today, but I don't really get why it is a big deal to call someone or something silly in this manner.

This thread is interesting when there are real-life situations in play, but relentless puerility makes me want to ignore it.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."
