Nobel prize winner is boycotting top journals in his area

Don't know if many here are interested on these scientific 'politics', but I'd say it's easier for him now, having published in the top papers in the past and being recognized to do this.

Us mere mortals have no such choice, I think.

Most publications PIMP and vampire on their subjects, while producing nothing...

It's like Apple sucking on the neck of developers of apps...

There was also that russian guy who lived in poverty who solved one of the most difficult math problems and declined the prize / prize money.. can't remember his name...

Basically it was a big F--u from Mother-Russia...

Perelman, he solved Poincare's thing.

I agree, but again, new researchers can't do that. :|

according to my math guy, it's primarily because most of the problems left are too complex to solve alone, because there are necessary mathematical tools not yet invented..

tp4 has a math guy, and that's a chinese teenager locked in his basement.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
