This guy gets it.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Saw some girl stick her mouth into a jar of vasiline the otherday was kinda weird.  I mean nothing wrong with putting it on your lips. But like whacking your face into it :3
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

I made a new year's resolution many years ago to not make any more new year's resolutions, and i've been doggedly sticking to it.

So I usually respond 1920 * 1200 as I am not in a position to buy a new (bigger) monitor.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yeah I've never understood the point. If you want to better yourself just ****ing do it, IMO people that set NY resolutions are people that won't follow through.

Speaking of monitors - can't wait till Dell release their new 21:9 monitors, I want some SUPER widescreen action so I can ditch my second screen.

I'd also love to hear why you think I don't understand CPU's. Just because I don't think an i7 is worth the extra funds doesn't mean I don't understand you half-wit.

And just so you know I've actually got about a decade's experience working in the IT field. What makes you such an expert?

the 29inch ultra wide is
26.49" x 11.17"

the 24inch is
20.4" x 12.8

Without the vertical height everything will be squished..

It's like you're back to using 2x tiny  17" 5:4 panels

The 21:9 is good for 2:1 movies, and it ENDS there..

For productivity, you're better off with 2x 24"  and obviously 2x 30"

I made a new year's resolution many years ago to not make any more new year's resolutions, and i've been doggedly sticking to it.

So I usually respond 1920 * 1200 as I am not in a position to buy a new (bigger) monitor.

First you don't understand CPUs, now you don't understand monitors.. what's next.

Okay tell me exactly how I don't understand monitors. Do you even know what monitor I'm talking about?

the 29inch ultra wide is
26.49" x 11.17"

the 24inch is
20.4" x 12.8

Without the vertical height everything will be squished..

It's like you're back to using 2x tiny  17" 5:4 panels

The 21:9 is good for 2:1 movies, and it ENDS there..

For productivity, you're better off with 2x 24"

Swing and a miss. If you read my post instead of insulting me like a child you'd see I said new monitors.

Ah **** I actually meant to link to the U3415W (3450x1440). Which provides more vertical AND horizontal resolution in a 21:9 aspect ratio than my current two displays.

But you don't actually give a ****, you were calling me out before you knew any details regarding this. Which just takes me back to my first thought, you're a troll with nothing better to do.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

The new 28" has the same problem as the current 29"

They're too small.. resolution is useless when the monitor is small because the primary factor to eye strain is viewing distance..

At close distance the eyeball is squeezed such that it can focus.

When looking at further away objects, the muscles relax..

WHich is why size is a priority over resolution..

Even though the new 28" has the resolution, if you intend on using 2 split programs on it, you will still have to sit less than 3 feet away to see the fine text..

Here's what I got so far...

1 _ Not be embarrassed about using lip balm in front of others.

2 _ Eat less animals

3 _ Write my autobiography.

Post urs...!!

New Year's Resolutions:

1 _ Not be turned on while watching tp4 using lip balm in front of others.

2 _ Eat more animals.  Especially cows in the shape of cheeseburgers.

3 _ Read tp4's autobiography.  'cuz I'm sure it will be some great fiction, or a lot of blank pages, either way an easy read.

what is your industry?
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

The same as it was in 2013: 3840 x 1080.

Plus, why is improving yourself limited to just the new year? It should be a ongoing process.

Because the 'new' year is seen as a fresh start or clean slate. You say in the past we did this or that but in this 'new' year we will be different.....or that's the idea at least.

But does anyone ACTUALLY succeed at their resolutions?

For me, I'd make something simple that I know I can accomplish just to make myself feel better.

So, I resolute that I will go back to school.

I don't make resolutions to be honest. I work on improving myself regardless of the time of year.

And that is the way it should be IMO.

The world in general SHOULD be a better place. But it really isn't...

1. Get under 200lbs (currently 255 - down from 348)
2. Obtain a HAM Radio Technician license and get involved with a club.  (My initial interests are Packet and CW.)

I just say things to make the wife happy so she will stop bugging me about them.

Make sure they aren't siblings tho. Don't want a house full of inbred cats... you're walls would continuously walked into headfirst by an endless wave of felines.
