Do you ever dream about keyboards(literally)?
« on: Fri, 27 December 2013, 04:52:05 »
Last night, i was having this lucid dream. I was at my parents house and trying to find my old keyboards when i was using as a kid. And suddenly, i found my dads old electronic typewriter, which is the first portable electronic typewriter ever..I suddenly removed one of the caps, like an instinct..and voila..cherry mx reds..i looked closer and it said Cherry MS L2 on the switch(what the hell is that hahaha)..then i woke up..
On Sunday, i'm visiting my parents and i will seriously going to remove the cap... :)

Last night I had a dream I had a HHKB, and today there was one on classifieds that I saw and was about to buy, but someone else bought it before I could :P

dear OP, you may want to read this thread:
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=48477
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I love the sound of blues, but WHAT a dream to have. Seeing as it lasted until morning, that means I'd imagined myself myself in a dark room with the sound of blues for hours.

I once dreamt I got an SSK somehow. That's the only keyboard-related dream I can remember.

It was one of those dreams where everything seems fairly normal, so after I wake up it takes a while for my brain to process that it was just a dream and that I don't actually have the thing(s) I got in the dream. That happens from time to time.

I had a really quick dream that my clack that I sent to someone overseas got lost in the mail.

Actually I'm still waiting for a response whether or not they got it, so its still a possibility.

I do

In most cases, I'll wake up and realize that the dream wasn't true and thus I'll become really sad, because usually in the dream something amazing happens. And waking up it isn't real so that's disappointing  :))

I have an excuse. :P I am working on a new case design so I dream about the different properties of composite materials vs metals vs plastics vs wood and so on.

X material is great, but it won't take a thread, but I can probably use a threaded insert. Y material is perfect, but it is too costly and hard to work. Etc...

Luckily I have not.

I have dreamt about other hobbies though. Like cycling. Keyboards are something I like, can look great and are functional and all that. But they do not interest me enough to haunt me in my dreams.

This one time I dreamed about a candycorn space bar.  It was really nice, but I wasn't allowed to keep it.  I was trying to figure out how to package it securely so that the next person would receive it in one piece.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

No.  I was being extremely careful with it, as I was not allowed to keep it but supposed to pass it along to someone else.

It was very well made, typical of CC, and I was terrified of not packaging it properly in case it got damaged in transit.

Last night in my dream, after a hockey game that I played in (in the dream) the school I was at (we were Away team) was having some sort of garage sale and I see a **** ton of keyboards. Apparently I bought a bunch of Model Ms with Greens in them for $10 each (so $20 for 208 green switches isn't too bad huh). End of dream ^_^

I had a dream either last night or the night before related to a keyboard. It was bizarre, and the appearance of the dream was color graded with dingy blues and greens. Most times I remember such dreams but not this time. Pity, as it's the perfect thread, haha.

I had a dream when I was in hs that a Cherry Corp rep came to our school and talked about a bunch of switches that didn't really exist.  The only one I remember specifically was one that had a "simulated travel distance of 21 miles"  Whatever that means.

I was told about this thread.  I had a dream about using my numpad, the night after I ordered my first mechanical keyboard - a Filco TKL.  It was horrible.

Also, since then I've noticed how often I've been using the numpad for calculations while at work.  Why didn't I wait until after the christmas break to make such a life-changing decision?

Oh well, I guess it just means that if I find it a chore I'll have to buy another keyboard.  WHAT A SHAME!

You know...   The Egdx can be configured to have a Numpad layer... and it'd retain not only the ergonomic layout, but also contain many more functions... every one of which moveable and reprogrammable

AND... it saves space on your desk as you wouldn't need a separate item..

Or just log him out and lock his account for an hour every time he mentions the Egdx...  Haha, that would be an awesome feature...

Had another dream, two actually. I was on an fishing vessel on a stormy night, in the middle of nowhere, trying to track the location of a enemy ship with HHKB stock on board.

There were a bunch of us, everyone armed. In the cold air we finally caught sight of one and prepared to dock beside it and start our exploration of the larger ship.

We made our way across the weathered docking planks and onto the top deck, keeping our eyes open for enemies. No one is around. Suspicious we let down ropes over the side and climbed nearer the base of the vessel, avoiding being heard.

As we climbed lower an expansive all-glass windowed section of the ship came into view, and inside were large open rooms styled with mid-century interior design. Stunned I notice the rooms are all filled with nuns in black habits, lounging about in perfect silence. A creepy sensation runs over my body. From the expressions on the other crew members dangling to the left of me I could see everyone felt the same way.

Making our way back we theorize there must be multiple ships and this was just a decoy. Sometime later this was proven correct as the radar detected a similarly sized ship heading in the same direction, as well as another some distance behind it. These would be the ones we were looking for, and after preparing ourselves more fully we decided on a course of action. The shipment would be ours if nothing went horribly wrong.

The last thing I remember was standing on the deck watching the looming dark silhouette of the ship while the storm spat white foam across the bow.

I wake up, but only before briefly dreaming about another keyboard-related episode which I can't recall. 'Twas an gripping little adventure, haha.

Wouldn't it be impossible to dream about keyboard use? I heard human beings couldn't read or write in dreams, it's just jibberish.

I had a dream about Topre a while ago, which I posted on Reddit with my old account. I actually purchased a Topre board only 2 days after that, needless to say the dream was pretty epic. ^__^

I just woke up from a dream where there was a huge amount of topre keyboard and I was trying them out... then my cat jumped on my bed and scared me... when I was typing on an hhkb pro2 (that was purple) there were tears coming from my eyes and someone asked why and I said I was replicating the sound of the switches. That doesn't even make sense. Dreams are weird...

A couple of months ago, I had a dream instructing me to buy something with MX Red switches.

I've been able to resist acting on it...so far.

I had a dream that my Hyperfuse set finally came in and they were thick, doubleshot PBT. I woke up because I knew it was too good to be true!   :))

Recently I went to my friends house and he said he had over 20 old keyboards. Naturally, I released many fluids and went digging in his pile for an IBM Model M.  Turns out they were all (really old) rubber domes in poor condition. But when I got home, I had a dream that each and everyone was an IBM Model M in their original packaging. Then I woke up.. very disappointed.
Keyboards are the only thing keeping me from consuming human flesh.
