Christmas Vacation is a venerable holiday tradition in my home.

Also, have we really gotten to page 5 without Ghostbusters getting a mention?  One of the greatest films of all time.

Re-read my list, Hash. ;)

Ok good, as long as someone covered it. :D

Speaking of Sci-Fi I don't think I saw Predator or Abyss on the list. Classics.

Cloak and Dagger is another favorite of mine. I dreamt of being a spy back when I was a kid, and this movie had that element, as well as walkie talkies and video games. Plus Dabney Cloeman and Henry Thomas. A winner in my book. :)

I mean, I can name off a bunch of great movies too. Doesn't make 'em my favorites though. I dunno how people can have these lists of a dozens of movies and claim they can't say any one of them is a better film than another on the list. ****, if we're just talking movies we like, brb, compiling a list of my top 200 :P

Sorry, indecisiveness upsets me in an inordinate amount  :-X

How's my list indecisive? I'm just adding more movies I love as they come to mind.

Don't be such a " (Negative) Nancy."

There is no limit to the list and I think Air tree was really looking for some suggestions as well.

Already know I love Aliens! BUT EVENT horizon, amazing flick yes!

Any gorehounds out there? Not my favorite genre, but sometimes I go on a gore bender and watch a bunch of brutal films in like a week. Satisfies me for about 6 months. Is that weird?

Hell yea! I don't take that long of a break though, I watch horror suspense all the time!

I've seen some really f***ed up exploitation/horror films.

Namely "A Serbian Film" That just went way to far in my eyes. It did what it wanted to do well but, holy ****.

I know I mentioned Act of Valor but that was way back on page 3 I think.

Has anyone mentioned Repo! The Genetic Opera?  That movie is probably my all time favorite movie.

Just saw The Grand Budapest Hotel. Not bad, but one of Anderson's weaker works for sure. Best imo being, The Fantastic Mr. Fox. The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums were really good too though. So was Darjeeling Limited. Actually now that I'm am typing this out, TGBM might actually be his worst film.

I enjoyed The Grand Budapest quite a lot. I still have yet to watch some of Anderson's other films.

Now that I think about it, I shall. I'm going to watch The Fantastic Mr. Fox. now

To name some random movie: My Neighbour Totoro. Which is pretty infantile and sentimental, but has it's charming message if you watch it without resentment. "Favorite movie" depends on own taste and mood. But technically speaking, one pretty good staging is 12 Angry Men. No special effects, no sex, no crime, not even color . It shows in a minimalistic way what mere elaborated dialogues in intimate play can effectuate. I see the movie as a kind of "lesson for filmmakers".

lol. clearly, you got me. nothing is more attractive than a short balding guy.

no, i liked the movie because it was simple and just a story, and focused on doing it well. i usually hate asian movies because they are over the top and flashy and try to hard to portray substance.

God, I hate ranking things, but Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love maybe? With Pen-Ek Ratanaruang's Last Life in the Universe as a close second?

Kind of unfair because I love WKW's entire filmography, as well as Wes Andersons and Hayao Miyazakis. Hard to name favorites when I love every one of their films differently.

the -All for winner- the prequel with Stephen chow is considered the best one..

Although pretty much every thing Stephen chow made is good, with the exception of that one detective movie..

Can anyone recommend a good modern movie set in not modern times? Something along the lines of the victorian era or something.

Umm, I don't know about the victorian era, but the film "The Artist" Is set in the late 20's and is a silent film about silent films and the ushering in of the 'talkie' era of films and it's effects on an actor stuck in the past of silent films.

It's good, if you haven't seen it. But you probably have.
