130 doesn't seem realistic

That Fast Company guy on the link I provided claimed he could do 130 wpm. The developer claimed that its possible to do 180!

You gotta believe!

I see 100+ WPM in that video MAX, while usually when we measure WPM we measure the total over a period.

If you "type" the same sentence over and over again, eventually the predictor could be perfectly in tune for that sentence allowing you to reach a very high WPM ...

Here is a link to a reddit thread about the Android: http://www.reddit.com/r/nintype/comments/2ocrl3/android_version/

There is an old version available as an APK, but the developer says he will work on it more in the new year.

TIL.

Super annoying when you're trying to erase the added word, and then it ends up messing up prediction even more.

It's highly customizable so you can turn off many things and have a minimal keyboard.

Edit: uploading a screen shot.

There are a few really good design decisions. Swiping the space bar left and right will move the cursor left and right one character. This is totally brilliant instead of depending on iOS magnify glass which we have to poke.

And if what you type has many other matches, you can hold the space bar and the words pop up in a window which you can choose. I turned off the top bar which provides suggestions as that take up space so the alternative is holding space to pop up words.

And those characters lighting up as you typed are really fun. It can be distracting but each tap or swipe that produce special effects can be turned off individually. I've never seen so much option and customization in a keyboard. Themes, colourd, disco lights. You can even split the keyboard or resize it. Truly amazing for one developer to do this. Work of love.

Oh and if you're totally paranoid about key logging, this keyboard does not require full access to work. If you are not familiar with what I mean, Apple actually put in some technical control to the OS when you are installing a third party keyboard where you need to specifiacally activate Full Access for keyboard to send things over network or for developer to gain more control. With Nintype, it works without needing the full aceess.

Loving this more and more especially that I could resort to pecking if I type slowly. The board knows that I want to revert back to the old way. So I cab ve swiping one sec ago and pecking the other sec. Cool.

130 wpm...dunno how necessary that is, but I don't know...just a supposition.

It has Colemak??

Does it allow you to "split" the keyboard, like iOS allows?

good man.

Try the tutorial. If you get stuck, it's ok to ignore and revisit the tutorial later. The menu is activated by HOLDING on to Spacebar and then sliding your finger to TUTORIAL to turn it on/off.

If it is too colorful for you, again hold space bar, go to THEMEs  and the choose FX and turn off some stuff.

And I'd highly recommend OPTIONS - AUTOCORRECT and then disabling auto correct when peck-typing 2 character or more. This will make the keyboard more like an iOS keyboard for pecking and correcting your mistake.

As you use this keyboard more and more, you will get better at it and fall in love.

And for those on the fence because of the $5 price tag, think about how much you spent on mech keyboard, your iPhone and then those beautiful artisan caps. Think about the PP fees you paid and the shipping fees. $5 is NOTHING!!

Still loving it. What I do not like is that I still can't type as fast as I peck on iOS keyboard. But of course, I could still peck at Nintype and therefore, what I dislike is moot in a way. I was hoping I can be a super fast swiper/combo.

They are surprisingly very little bugs. Sometimes, the keyboard crash and I am brought back to the default iOS but it's very, very rare.

I am still having fun playing with the keyboard. To many people, it's still a keyboard and why am I saying I am having fun? It's hard to express in words. It's like people looking at our mech keyboard and think that it is JUST a keyboard, but we know why we in Geekhack loves them, and find it hard to articulate. That is how I feel about Nintype. It's essentially just a iOS keyboard to many, but it's just so much fun!

You are a TRUE GEEKHACKER. Loving an iOS keyboard., who would think such a thing?
I'll jump on it because you are so ravenous about and it DOES have a solid set of reviews.
Maybe it'll drop a buck for New Years. Lol. Is there a Geekhack theme color available?

I'm trying to get CptBadAss to build a purple-pink-white keyboard for my gf for her birthday in Feb. if he doesn't maybe I'll get her Nintype instead.

I have purchased 3 different keyboards that I thought I would like. So far I still use the stock iOS keyboard. I fear that I will just be throwing away $5 and be right back to the stock iOS keyboard. But the colors make me fee like I should get it for that reason alone.

In my opinion, this keyboard will shine in an iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (likely even an iPad) but not the smaller models. The reason is that it is the first keyboard that combine both swiping and pecking and thus is BEST use with two thumbs. If you are buying this to try on an iPhone 5S which is too small for two thumb typing, you will not like in.

And this is the reason why I still haven't mastered it yet because I am so sure to one finger pecking and not two thumb swiping+pecking combo. But it is best use in this way.

Consider yourself flogged and hung out to dry.
Now FIX THAT DAMN BOARD

P.S. - Yea, you don't qualify for Geek of the Week this week. The penalty for not colorizing with team colors.

Anyone knows the RGB color for the Geekhack orange. I can't get it right:

YM88 - WELCOME! You might want to hold space bar and choose Theme to customize. As for deleting word, its just one back space, provided the word was type using swipe-peck combo. If you roped the word using peck, then you have to backspace each char to delete.

Edit: tip - swipe left on backspace key to delete and sweep to the right to undo the delete. Amazing innovation!

Also sweep left right on space bar to move the cursor.

This is much better, pure black for background and the pad keys. Don't you think so?

Ok..... I brightened the key caps slightly so I can make them out. I like it very much. Thanks for pushing me to do so. I blame you for my unproductive hours, Input. Not that I have anything to do at work now.

Yea this keyboard is pretty great actually. Like playing a game whenever you need to type! not to mention the actual game that's built in!

We should have a Show Me Your Nintype keyboard thread!

haha yes that would be fun! I find this theme customizing very confusing at first glance. I don't know what most of these things even mean yet. I'll get there. I love how they put in the appostrophy in the little open space just right of the L key. Ninkey for the win!!

Yeah. As a start for theme customizing just focused on Preset, PAL, Preset and Pattern. Then slowly explore the rest.
