How to sell a giftcard
« on: Fri, 26 December 2014, 11:13:40 »
Lets start by saying i got a couple gift cards from family but most are them are to places i do not ever shop. Anyone ever used any website that will buy them off me for Paypal funds? Just wondering how safe of an idea this is or should i just go spend them on stuff i do not need instead?

Ebay usually is a good option. I think there are some limits on what you can list, but you are likely to get the best amount selling it yourself. Most Gift Card buying shops will only offer you around 50-60% of the value. For "Tier 1" stores (Walmart, Target, big national chains, etc) I think that top value is 70%. For those Tier 1 stores on Ebay you can get 100%+. You may find some success listing them on CraigList as well.

You could also try and list them here to avoid fees

check your local laws. iirc here in cali you can turn them in for cash.

also coinstar will exchange them for cash for what im guessing is a "small" fee.

Sure i shop at best buy but only for things i am to impatient to wait on. In this case i am in no rush and realize i will most likely spend more in taxes in store (9.25% AR state tax) then i will lose by selling it online. Newegg warehouse is only 3 hours from me so my packages show up very promptly without a shipping cost or taxes. Either way i have way more options with funds in a paypal account then if i forced myself to buy somthing in store. Going the ebay route to sell these
