Best part is how they stored their clients names in non-encrypted plain text. I mean... that's just asking for it, and they bill themselves as security specialists when they can't code their way out of paper bag.

They're worse than Sony. At least with Sony, they had someone who had no idea about IT to take care of everything.

Like you said, they tried to make people think they knew what they were doing with their little scripts  :))

Such a bunch of tools.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

the #1 error of skiddies is that they leave tracks

That's a cool blog/site. I'll have to check it out/add it to my RSS.

Was a cool article, and it's interesting to see how these people grow and operate on the Internet. While these might be mearly children compared to actual hackers, it's an interesting insight into another world. I imagine that it's only a matter of time before they are all caught and arrested.
I love reading about the Darknet and all that dumb ****, makes me kinda glad that **** exists, makes the Internet feel more alive than Reddit and dank memes...

Baldgye, there is no such think as a "darknet" in the sense that it's an "underground" Internet. Simply any device or network that is not easily indexed by a search engine is considered to be part of the "darknet". The whole internet was like that until the late 90's when search engines started popping up (because it was nearly impossible to find sites unless you knew the exact URL/address.) Your company's corporate network, as with almost all business networks, is therefore part of the Darknet. Darknet in pop-culture is nothing more than media hype.

While true about the darknet simply meaning any non-indexed page or site it's also the case there is an underground internet in the sense of Tor hidden sites/services and the like which are known to be places for illegal activity (CP, drug trade, hacker black markets, etc). Plenty of legit stuff too, obviously.

Tor is just an encrypted network that runs on top of the Internet. What people choose to do with it is up to them. Tor is not an "Underground" service.

So the darknet does exist... But I guess it's good to know im part of 'Pop-culture'

Right, but it's not what people are lead to believe. Makes for a good story though.

Right, but when talking about hacking and tor networks (things mentioned in the links in the OP) Dakrnet means what you think it means (which is why you made your post).
It's a fairly generic word that can refer to hidden or encrypted sites and/or tor sites. I'm aware that Darknet might originally have meant something else and be used by other people to mean something else, hell fishermen could use the word for all I know...

Tor is just an encrypted network that runs on top of the Internet. What people chose to do with it is up to them. Tor is not an "Underground" service.

Not per se, but I'm not sure what your definition of underground is, it's typically 'hidden, furtive, secretive'.

Hidden: "Difficult to find"
Furtive: "Marked by quiet and caution and secrecy; taking pains to avoid being observed"
Secretive: "Inclined to secrecy or reticence about divulging information"

So while anyone can use Tor and addresses are usually posted on the open web, the people using it for activities they're wanting to keep quiet are certainly being secretive and trying to avoid attention by Tor's anonymous nature. I don't see an issue calling that side of things 'underground'.

Underground, when not being used literally means; cool. Like Tony Hawks: Underground.
