Going to the Amazon jungle
« on: Sun, 26 April 2015, 07:02:15 »
Hey guys starting tonight I will be AFK for 3-4 weeks as I'm going to the Amazon jungle for work. I'll be living in a hut with a bug net for the next several weeks. No power, no internet. So if you need me you can...wait for me to get back lol.

I've been to jungles before, so I'm not a total n00b, but if any of you have a lot of experience with Amazon jungle I would love any advice you have.
I'm back.

Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Sounds awesome dude! Give us a bit of a write up when you get home, I'm fascinated by the amazon and would love to hear your thoughts!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

God, this sounds just like when I went to thailand when I was 8..

I was told the same thing, like camping, they said..

Then you get there..   Mosquitos,  Humid, HOT, big bugs other than mosquitos, sweaty, body stickiness the entire time, nothing to eat, no ice,

All the people around you smell Awful, YOU smell awful..

Oh yea.. the ticks..  watch out for ticks.

I think everyone should probably experience it,  so yea.. Enjoy,

But, damn, it really makes you appreciate the concrete prison of modernity..

Well, you don't know that he's coming back..

and ontop of that,   If he dies,   do we ourselves cease to exist?  2 Parties are required to affirm existence.

Thanks, brother, good hanging with you in Philly!

Haha, that's my 3 year old's thoughts too.  When I told him I was going to the Amazon, he said, "You're going to da store?"

Sounds awesome dude! Give us a bit of a write up when you get home, I'm fascinated by the amazon and would love to hear your thoughts!

I will give a good report sir!

Watch out for the little critters that crawl into hidden places. ;)

Dude, you're not kidding.  I insisted on extra screws for our equipment because I don't want to have to crawl under a hut when we drop one through the floorboards.  I mean, this Scorpion Spider scares the crap out of me...and I've heard they can get as large as a small dinner plate:

Wow, that sounds like an interesting trip! Have fun, don't get eaten :)

I shall try my best  :'(

I can totally relate to it making you appreciate the comforts of our modern shackles.  I too have been in the Thai jungle before (mainly while trying to find hidden rock climbing routes), and also Malay and Indonesian jungles.  But never for more than a few days.

But, y'know, I've always felt that you can endure most anything for a few weeks.  And maybe I'll come back with some good stories to share with you guys!
I'm back.

Hrrmmm...  that article says the first reported case was "controversial" as to whether it actually happened.

Hrrmm..   I guess...   just tie it up?

I just saw in that amazon Zo'é tribe documentary,  they have this   ''holster"  made from reeds that goes around their "member"..

Oh gosh I've never heard of that but it seems plausible.

"Don't pee while wading in the river"

Got it.
