So last year in the fall an Imperial Moth laid her eggs on my porch, and I decided to save them, considering a lot of them were pooped out onto the ground by accident. I didn't expect the young larvae to be able to survive the condition by themselves, nor did I know a random suitable place for them.
I'm also not an expert in raising these guys, I found a lot of help reading the interwebs. Months float on by, and by this time I am only left with two larvae unfortunately. I'm not sure how they died, sometimes it just happens I imagine. It was pretty crushing though to see them die so randomly, since I was rather attached to these little guys.
Soon after the sausage stage (not actual term, however they were ****ing huge), these two larvae finally managed to molt! Awesomesauce right? Most of the summer goes by, and I checked up on them. You can do this by barely touching the pupae and it'll give you a jerk or wiggle in return. Sadly one of the pupae didn't make it

However, one did and I'm quite certain it's a female! You can tell the sex by the notches on them during this stage in their life. The other pupae had been male, which kinda sucks.

ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY, I checked on her today and boom! Moth! I wasn't even expecting it, nor did I get the opportunity to see her hatch. However, I did notice she pooped all over my container, and for some reason she looks a bit ragged. She did manage to fly out of the container, and is content on my porch as of now. Hopefully, during the night, she can find a male so she can go make some babies.
If you wanna know more, because you're a nerd you can find some more info on these specific moths, go here:
