Well I guess you pay when you want support and use free versions when you don't?  Frankly I don't know. So it works well?

it work good, very.

It's got all the most useful stuff covered under the free version.

Clone,  Image,  Create USB bootable (this is important)

I've used maricum to bring a laptop with a failed raid array back up. It works really, really well, and the software is pretty easy to understand. The only thing I don't like is that I couldn't figure out how to clone to a partition on a drive, instead of cloning over the whole drive, but that may have to do with cloning, and not maricum specifically.

I think you need to click restore partition parameter during the cloning menu process to either make, shrink, or enlarge a partition. 

It's the part where you select your destination drive..

Ah, I never saw that option! I'll keep it in mind next time I need to make a backup!

It's not as intuitive as Active@ or Acronis (which are dead simple), but it does work well.
The one place it shines is on creating the disk, Macreum will automatically format as GPT if necessary.

There are other free alternatives as well, but those are even less intuitive.
